Did you ever think what it is advertising? The Army.It is advertising the army to get more troops to help the ones we have.If a product does not advertise then there is no product.

It's a very small amount of money compared to the war. It wouldn't really do anything for the soldiers.
Don Knows-Are you and your son whining because he has to sleep on plastic covered mattresses, instead of sheets????
Do you want silk or satin??? When I was deployed in Iraq, we slept in our sleeping bags wherever we could. They are at war, not at a slumber party. Do you want them to get relaxed and end up dead, because they were too comfy? Sorry, I was with the 2/3 ACR, attached to the 101st and we did fine!
Also, did you say the Army post couldn't get Oreos for your son? That's what care packages are for. I believe the military takes care of your needs, not every little whiny want. Is he in supply or some MOS like that? If he were in my unit, things like mission accomplishment and staying alive, along with his fellow soldiers would be ALOT more important than Oreos. Truth be told, he wouldn't make it in my unit. Would be a liability, rather than an asset.
Too many people over here do not understand what's happening there. The media reports are so wrong and full of lies.
Sorry, but he is a soldier, doing a job. I think he needs more, and better equipment over some sheets and Oreos.
By the way, almost everyone in my Battalion watched NASCAR and could tell you most drivers names. (Not really sure how many joined because of it, nor do I care...hopefully they joined to serve their country! )

Do you remember seeing the recruitment commercials on TV? That's how they can do this. The vehicle sponsors of nascar are just more commercials in a different format. But if your worrying about where are money goes, look into what the government pays out for service contracts and household items. Then you can be truly appalled.

When people research crashes in NASCAR they learn things that can make military vehicles safer for our soldiers. When potential recruits see a military sponsor they are more likely to go join the military. when our military sponsors a NASCAR team they benefit from it. This is just another example of how free market capitalism works. I

OK, honestly most of these people have it somewhat right. Each military branch does get a set dollar amount to spend on recruiting and advertising, and so on. but there is two sides to each story, i am a former amateur racer. Ive spent my time and money at the track and my uncle (who got me into it) is still in the nextel cup garages. Here's the thing, for a major sponsorship, like the ARMY on Mark Martins car, it is a million dollar a year deal per season. I see where your point is now, that's a lot of money that isn't going to our troops right? However, in answer to your question of how they can spend that money on a car and not the war, here you go... I am currently enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, and let me tell you, that the amount spent in one years racing isn't even close to flirting with the amount needed to give us better weaponry, or better gear, or better anything. Honestly, it brings the ARMY, or the AIR FORCE, or the MARINES to the front of peoples minds, the see it and are reminded, and hopefully inspired. The advertisements are not anything to the government, what they want, is this, us here and now talking about it. so you see, it works. be it right or wrong, it works.

I have been having this argument with Ga Senator Johnny Isakson and you can not believe the BS answers and reason his office gives for using MY money to enrich the NASCAR team owners, track owners and NASCAR itself with my and your tax dollar if you really want to get upset figure in the cost of the 36 plus flyovers the military does to make all the attendees who are already paying upwards of 100.00 per ticket to the major races feel good and excited F16 non combat operating costs are about 12,000.00 per hour.
I have been very upset by this WASTE as my son is in Iraq for a second tour and sleeping on a plastic covered mattress in 115 degree heat cause the army won't supply enough sheets. I send him peanut butter, honey and oreos each week because the army post can't get it..but they can fly Generals.Colonels, and army brass all over so they can say "Gentlemen start you engines"....I think it is a disgrace that our congressmen and senators do so very little to protect and comfort our soldiers yet pay race car owners and drivers to live a life of luxury that few of us can imagine...by the way my brother-in-law is the most sucessful race car driver in history .....He has won more championship in a major touring race series ........ARCA........more than Richard Petty and Dale Earnhart so I do know a little bit of what I speak...Contact you Senator and Congressman and DEMAND this waste stop immidately.....Just remind each of them that it only takes 1 vote to put them back in the real world of working men and women........and few of them want to leave the fantasy land that we the taxpayers of america have allowed them to build.... As a sidebar to this post it is my youngest son that is in Iraq but his older brother was an army recuiter after finishing his tour as a member of the armys elite 3rd Army "Old Guard" for you who do know that is the detail that is the presidential honor guard and the tomb of the unknown soldier..and I ask them both if they personally knew any on in the military that had been swayed by a NASCAR team and neither replied in the affirmative so I asked my son that is presently deployed and an officer to inquire if any of those under his command were swayed by the NASCAR ads......nada.......nor could any of the nine recuiters I contacted in the Atlanta region of Ga name any of the drivers of the military sponsered cars...in fact 5 of the 9 were not aware of the NASCAR affiations
I stand to be challanged with verifiable stats not emotions

NASCAR #1 in advertising with help of the television and radio.
Got to have some way to recruit new enlistments to replace those dying in Bush's War. (not meaning to sound disrespectful to the troops)

They have an advertising budget anyway, so why not use it on the greatest sport their is? Look at how much advertising they get in Nascar! Everytime their car goes by the people in the stands, everytime it passes a camera, everytime the announcers speak of it, everytime they interview the driver. How much more can you ask for for your $$$$? I think it is a great idea. It also shows support for our troops!

Consider the average NASCAR fan who goes to a race.
18-24 years old
Patriotic
Sponsor-driven
Any guesses as to how much traffic the Armed Forces get in their recruiting tents as a result of having cars on the track?

I bet the Army spends as much money on the commercials as they do on Nascar.
They hit a large mass of people being on Nascar.
I think it is pretty cool that they are using a greatly love sport to mass spread there name.
I mean people don't have a problem paying and extra buck for beer so they can have a sponsored car.
