Random acts of kindness to traveling to a 3rd world country and everything in between. Pick up an apple that an old lady dropped at the grocery store. Help a fumbling mom w/ 3 kids by opening the door for them, Go to Haiti (I do this) or Africa on a mission or good deed trip. etc. The opportunities are endless.

I'm just one person, but I try to make a difference by making quilts for Project Linus. That is an organization that gives quilts and blankets to children who have been abandoned, abused or who are ill.

I do this anonymously, which I feel is what God would want and I've been doing it for many years. It makes me feel good to think that a child somewhere is being comforted in some small way because of one of my little quilts.

I agree with Ahmad Love.
Essentially...surely if you make a concerted effort for self-improvement, that doesn't involve the ego (inner peace being the goal), everything else will fall into place...that is insha'Allah you should be able to follow a divinely guided heart and soul and epitomize kindness and compassion and this should have a domino effect on others insha'Allah.

Stand up for what is right. Never be afraid to speak the truth. Share with others. Do things for others, and be anonymous. Help others in all ways. Pray about it, and God will show you what He wants done. Go on a Missions Trip. You will change people, and you will change.

When donating canned and other non-perishable foods, try to consider what you would like to eat. Try to give different types of nutrition through combinations of ingredients, such as meat and vegetables mixed together.
Here is a good list:

Canned Beef Stew
Chinese meat and vegetable combo varieties
Chili with Beans
Peanut butter and Jelly Combo
Canned Chicken and dumplings
Fruit Cocktail
Canned / Dried Soups with Vegetables and Meat
Dried Fruit with or with out nuts
** Boxed Crock Pot creations
Oatmeal with fruit
** Boxed Bakeable Meals, ** Boxed Skillet creations
Cereal with Dried Fruit
** (These type of boxed meals usually have everything included.)

Other Good Non-Combos :

Boxed Stuffing, Boxed Mashed Potatoes
Jar Cheese
Baby Formula Bottled Water
Spaghetti Noodles and Sauce Varieties
Dried Milk
Canned Vegetables - All varieties
Peanut butter, Jelly, Honey
Canned Tuna, Chicken, Salmon
Canned juice with a high percentage of actual Juice
Non-Food Items, desperately needed also:

Toiletries, Shampoo, Conditioner, Brushes, Combs, Deodorant, Diapers (All sizes), Wipes, Tooth brushes, Tooth Paste, Disposable razors, Can Openers, Pots & Pans, Heaters, Fans, Vitamins, Clothes (all sizes and styles), Shoes, Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and toys for the little ones.

Buy at least one item off of this type of list when ever you do your own shopping. You can drop it off at any donation drop off location as you go, or you can gather it up for a month and give it all at once. These people need help often and always. One day this person may be you, so for the Love of Jesus Christ Our Savior, Please....Eat Well.

* Donation Drop off locations are located every where, in all states. These Locations always have a fixed base of operation, such as the Red Cross and Churches, among many others. These locations are always there and always available, don't wait for a food drive, it may be too late then. Open your phone book or search on the internet for your nearest location.

** Helpful hint :
Use your talents to benefit others. Examples :

Wood Workers : On your free time create items such as tables, bassinets, cabinets. All these things are always needed and greatly appreciated by God and the person(s) receiving them.

Seamstresses : Hand made blankets are excellent, They don't have to be knitted if you don't know how to knit. Use your sewing machine and get some good fleece or other heavier material (solid prints are always less expensive and equally warm and comfortable, you can produce more this way as well) Sewing Machines are great in many other ways. Feel totally free to create your own items as you see fit.

Everyone : Use your wonderful skills, creativeness and free will to create good works for man in honor of Our Father. That's why he Blessed you with these talents and when you've been blessed, you've been blessed well.

All these items can be dropped off at donation centers available in your area.

Make someone happy. Got a cute dog? Take it to an old folk's home. Become a nurse, make someone laugh. If you have a genuine spirit that wants to help others people will notice this.
