A nuclear device detonation is a very real, tangible event, with tons of evidence to support it.
God is an imaginary creation with ZERO evidence to support him/her/it.
When god starts showing up for invited appearances, I'm sure atheists will be happy to believe he exists.

The heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands
psalm 19: 1
Romans 1:18-23But God's angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth. But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! By taking a long and thoughtful look at what God has created, people have always been able to see what their eyes as such can't see: eternal power, for instance, and the mystery of his divine being. So nobody has a good excuse. What happened was this: People knew God perfectly well, but when they didn't treat him like God, refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives. They pretended to know it all, but were illiterate regarding life. They traded the glory of God who holds the whole world in his hands for cheap figurines you can buy at any roadside stand.

God is evident to everyone, but not everyone believes what they see. Consider this TRUE story (not analogy): When the first "explorers" came to what is now Central America, there was a wise old native man who sat on the beach every day and looked at the horizon. Every day the other villagers would come to the beach and wonder what he was staring at, seeing nothing but water and the horizon. For days he sat and stared, wondering how to wrap his head around what he was seeing. Finally, he came to the realization that he was seeing several gigantic boats (ships) in the water coming nearer and nearer. He went back to the villagers and explained to them that there was gigantic boats in the water coming nearer to the land--boats bigger than they had ever imagined, and therefore were not part of their reality. Once they had been told what was on the water, they all saw the ships, too. Sometimes, it's not that we don't all see something, it's that we don't acknowledge it, and when we do, it becomes obvious.

>>"There wouldn't be a disbeliever in town."<<
nonsense.
some would say it was a conventional bomb, some would say it was a meteor, some would say it was a conspiracy and made up, ect.
one person would mean a missile when they said "a nuke"
one person would mean a Bomb when they said "a nuke"
one person wouldn't care. ect.
in MY experience, in the world that i live in, "God" IS in fact, "self evident" its a matter of definition, what one peson calls God MIGHT be self evident, and that ANOTHER person just might not call it that, or would not attribute those self evident aspects to be connected to "God".
its not merely about evidence, but how that evidence is intepereted and attributed.
if an alien came and said they were the one responsible for everything as we know it, and that the bible calls God, ... would that be proof of God? would that make atheists belive in "God"? or would it be proof AGAINST god because what the people who were beliving in god, was proven to not be a god but to be an alien.
its all about perspective, intepereation and definition.
edit: also, you have no choice to belive in what I call God. if you exist to ask the question, then you do. you just don't call it God or attribute it to what I call God, or see the scope of it to be as I see it to be.
but the essence of it, you haven't a choice to belive in it. because its the pinnacle of self-evidence.

Uh, if the nuclear device was damn powerful, there wouldn't be anyone left in the city to exclaim at how powerful it was, and if it wasn't that damn powerful, there would be people in the city who haven't seen it explode, or even if they saw it, they're not dead, so they wouldn't think it was damn powerful.

God is self-evident. Do you not see flowers? Do you not hear birds sing? Do you not see fish in a stream? The world abounds with his graces. Man is given the knowledge of steel. We have free will. We can use steel to make tools to raise crops, or weapons. The choice is ours. God does not exist on on a level that man's physical senses can comprehend. But we can comprehend thee world that was created for us. The rest is Faith. Our faith in God that we will be saved. God's faith in us to make th right decisions. This existence determines rewards in the next.

well what is it that sooo causes soo many people to deny God's existance? Perhaps we all just want to live our lives with a purpose. Something more then just happening to be a cosmic accident. What is wrong with believing God...because of God and religion there are people who feel it to be that we should make the world a better place and to encourage a brotherly love then to live our lives in an "every man for himself" attitude.

Nope. There would still be doubters. Some might say it was a very large conventional device. Some might say "I didn't hear it". Some might ask for proof and then offer alternative explanations. Some might argue as to whether it was a bomb, power plant or radioactive asteroid.
Which would you do?

Christ WAS and still IS God in the flesh, and He did come among us and live and died for our sins. The problem isnt with God , but with US...we refuse to believe the overwhelming proof.
