Baby Jar foods are safe. I've heard different things about different brands of baby foods however. Nothing bad just some add extra stuff like sugar and what not.
My daughter eats Earths Best organics. I find they are the best way to go if you want baby food that doesn't have anything extra added to it. I've also found that when I tried to feed her any other brand, that she refuses to eat it.

At 10 month old for my two little boys were on 3 meals a day breakfast ,dinner and lunch. When I cooked the main meal in the evening I used to make enough to put aside for the next day for his lunch. So all you have to do his heat it up a little just like the jars. If they were hungry in between I would just give them little snacks a peice of toast or fruit. Plus babies at that age can eat all most any thing we can as long as you dont add salt when your cooking it and you mash it up so its easier for them to eat.
mince and potatoes, home made soup, stewed sausage but not froozen food or things like that.

Yes they are absolutely fine. I fed my two boys on them on a kind of daily basis until they were 11mths/12mths old with no effects whatsoever.
If your that worried, you can buy organic baby food in jars. You will probably pay a fraction more, but they are availalbe if wanted.
Another option is to buy a mini blender. This can be used for blending down any decent cooked excess veg, spuds and meat, that you might have had yourself for dinner.
At least this way you know what you're feeding your baby.

Jar foods, like Gerber, only contain the fruit/veggie and sometimes water. The preservatives aren't high, they're fine for baby. If you're concerned, you can buy organic, or healthy harvest jarred foods. Good luck

By 10 months he can have almost anything that you are eating, but just make sure to blend it. I have one of those stick blenders with the food processer attachments and I would take beef stew and blend it up. He got used to the different spices, like garlic, and I don't use much salt in cooking anyway. My son is now 3 and eats almost all veggies (Excpet brussel sprouts). He is not very picky at all.

jars of baby food are fine......when you make a meal of meat potatos with veg do extra, with what you have left mash the potatoe and veg together and add some finely chopped meat divide into small portions and put in suitable freezer containers and freeze, take one out of the freezer each night ready for the next day and all you have to do is make a small amount of gravy and you have a good meal for your son

Here is the thing.
Usually food jars are save. However there have been recalls on then over the course of years.
On the other hand we have had recalls on vegetables too. At least 2 children died from the spinch recall last year.
Washing/cooking ect the spinch didn't kill the ecoli.
At the very least with jar food recalls there was no deaths from it.

jar food isnt that great as they can contain high level of sugars and couluring and sodiom which arnt good for baby.
i dont think that they will cause any long term difficulties but they are not the cheapest or healthlest way to go.
at ten months baby can eat what you are eating as long as they are not too high levels of sugar or importanlty salt, inveest in blender and blend a small ammount if healthy meals such as pasta, veg and fish.
also my son used to love scambled egg mixed with dairlea cheese spread it good for protein and calium, and it is fast and healthy..
jars are ok for quick meals when your out but it is cheaper to cook and blend your own.
good luck
