Mainstream religion teaches that people who represent God are to be treated with respect and without question. Sadly though the modern head of the churches isn't too far removed from the people that they serve. To think a minister, pastor or priest is so beyond being normal flesh and blood people who although not all of them do this, many still have common vices and do not live this mythically sterile life.

Any religion that demands a priest to forsake living a complete biological life is setting their people up for failure and maybe harming another person. The answer that homosexuality is a choice hasn't seemed to stop people from harming other people to fulfill their need. In fact many gay clergy often take the mantle as a way to stop themselves form being something that is openly hated in many churches. But it doesn't change them and it often makes this other life so secretive that they look for sexual outlets from people they can keep quiet through guilt.

As a society we need to recognize that behavior that is deemed unnatural and devient makes the people who do these things go underground and practice in secret. I don't know how to change this, but it needs to be changed. What is the statement, "know your enemy?" By accepting that homosexuality is just as normal as hetrosexuality, then maybe your neighbor wouldn't hide behind the curtins or pick on someone (like a child) who they can find gratification through and keep them silent through fear.

Hopefully this answers this question.

Because my Pastor only preaches from the Bible #1. And he is never even allowed to see the money that comes in.That stays in the business end of the ministry. He's a good dude, like me an old surfer. He owns his own construction business and takes a pittance as a salary giving a lot to "Missions".

depends on the Pastor. Some I wouldn't trust as far as I could throw them.
As for my pastor- he practices what he preaches.Besides the fact he is a good man.I feel when he preaches it's what God is saying thru him to feed my soul . I know God shows him what it is we have to know and learn. And the bible is his back up.

What scriptures do you refer to. The bible wasnt written when Paul was alive.

because we like the Bereans of old look through the scriptures to see what he says is true

Acts 17:11
Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

I carefully watch and listen to my pastor. I receive the message. Then I do as the Bereans did and study it for myself. I don't always agree, and then I ask him about it. If I would disagree too much, I would leave and find another church.

back when i went to church (presbyterian), we had a string of very cool pastors who were legitimately good people both as christians and as human beings. they were and, i would imagine, still are worth imitating for the sake of learning common decency. im aware of hypocritical pastors that preach against drinking with four DUI's under their belt, but i knew these guys very well and trusted them. i still would even today as an atheist.

A good pastor will tell you not to take his word for anything. Do research and see for yourself.

I believe that you offer the same amount of trust to your neighbor. In the Bible, it does says to love thy neighbor as you love yourself. If you are a Christian, and you read your Bible daily, you know Gods Word and you know right from wrong. God gives you the armor and the ability to discern from the wicked and the righteous and with that comes the ability to be able to trust one another if they are a true follower of the Lord. -God Bless.

Exodus 18 - Jethro Visits Moses
13 The next day Moses took his seat to serve as judge for the people, and they stood around him from morning till evening. 14 When his father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he said, "What is this you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge, while all these people stand around you from morning till evening?"

15 Moses answered him, "Because the people come to me to seek God's will. 16 Whenever they have a dispute, it is brought to me, and I decide between the parties and inform them of God's decrees and laws."

17 Moses' father-in-law replied, "What you are doing is not good. 18 You and these people who come to you will only wear yourselves out. The work is too heavy for you; you cannot handle it alone. 19 Listen now to me and I will give you some advice, and may God be with you. You must be the people's representative before God and bring their disputes to him. 20 Teach them the decrees and laws, and show them the way to live and the duties they are to perform. 21 But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 22 Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you. 23 If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied."

24 Moses listened to his father-in-law and did everything he said. 25 He chose capable men from all Israel and made them leaders of the people, officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 26 They served as judges for the people at all times. The difficult cases they brought to Moses, but the simple ones they decided themselves.

27 Then Moses sent his father-in-law on his way, and Jethro returned to his own country.

He does me right. I had a private confessional with him after church last Sunday. He heard my confessions and then made me pay penance by turning me over his knee and paddling my bottom. Boy was I sore! But he taught me a lesson. I'll probably go back again for more lessons in the future.
