If he doesn't already have one get him one of those soccer set-ups for the backyard with the goal. Also how about books about insects. Kids are more likely to want to read if it is something that they are interested in, which is much better than letting them play video games.

Hi, how about personalized books? Kids love to read their own name in the storyline. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Spider-Man, Justice League, Where's Waldo, Sports titles, including one about Soccer and so many more. Check it out - they're very reasonably priced, and make a wonderful, unique & special gift... It's something they can enjoy now and keep forever!! Good Luck!

They have wonderful books now, that talk about everything, if he likes insects and dinosaurs and stuff like that, a book, age appropriate would be a good gift...... See, I was a strong reader growing up, so, as my relatives kids all got older, along with a 'fun' present, they also got a good book.

Although it is expensive a Wii would be a great gift. Ypu can buy a soccer game for it and it is still a video game but it would get him off his butt and moving.

Does he have a really good magnifying glass?

Is a microscope (assuming he doesn't have one) too expensive?

How's his collection of books about insects?

If he really likes bugs you should get him a bug catcher set. It has this bug vaccuum that sucks bugs up and then you put them into this special bug box with a magnifying lid so he can look at the bug in detail. You should be able to get the bug catcher set at Wal-Mart or Target or Toys'r us.
