The military isn't 'losing' campaigns, nimrod. the politicians and media are losing campaigns by restricting what the military can do during a war.
War is not a pretty thing. It never has been. The last thing the military needs is a bunch of humanitarian cry-babies whining and screaming about the 'human atrocities' of a war and setting up 'rules of engagement' which only serve to hamper any effort to successfully do what needs to be done. When one side of a war is doing anything and everything it can to win, the other side needs to be able to do the same thing.
Vietnam would've been won by America, and Iraq would already be won by the coalition forces, if people would take all the television cameras out of the battle zone and let the soldiers do what they must.

We lost Vietnam because the people we were fighting knew their jungle like the back of their hands and we had a lot of soldiers who were not committed to the Military or the beliefs of the United States. That is why a draft is never a good idea.

Have you read much on this site? You get about 25% inciteful questions/answers (whether I agree or disagree) and 75% of people who just like to write something that is, at best, childish. I usually ignore the ignore questions that clearly aren't written by anyone who has been educated.
The US military is both well funded and powerful, and I believe, despite Vietnam and challenges in OIF, it is quite successful. Its success is not really the issue here though. "Kicking someone's @**" is a phrase that belongs in bar brawls, not in any sort of meaningful conversation about military power.

Because of their training moron. You aren't very well informed the training since then has been completely changed, our special forces top anyone elses, other countries have tried to duplicate our training but there are serious problems with their versions. Judging by the fact that you cal it the american "army" i'd say you probably couldn't even name the special forces. The problems in the east now are due to bad planning. Vietnam was due to sending greeny's who got scared out of their minds under fire. If it ever came down to sending the entire military force down on anyone, we would iraticate them, we aren't trying to go wipe anyone off of the face of the planet right now, we're supporting the iraqi government hoping that eventually they will suport themselves without insurgents in every crack and crevice. Don't be stupid.

Honestly? a mixture of fanatical national pride (not such a bad thing) and a heaped serving of ignorence...
anybody that makes statements such as "??? RULE F YEAH" or " ??? COULD OWN ANY1 ANYTIME" without any reasoned debate, really shouldn't be taken too seriously.
farewell.

I would answer your question for you ,but you lazy misinformed punks that won't take the time to find facts to back up your idiot ideas don't deserve to have answers handed to you on a platter.

They feel the need, as you ask, because of a strong sense of national pride.
They root for America just like they root for their favorite NASCAR Driver... He might not be the best driver, he might have a long streak of losses, but their support for him never waivers. We stand by our convictions... sometimes even unto death.
We're just that kind of people.
g-day!

The American army has a huge propaganda machine , it basically states - " No one can defeat us . No one can even fight us . We are the greatest military the world has ever seen ! "
Unfortunately like most propaganda - it’s nonsense . The U.S. Armed Forces are technically well-trained , lavishly resourced Second-Generation militaries however they are today being fought and beaten by Fourth-Generation opponents in Iraq and Afghanistan and by Gorilla Warfare , a tactic a 9 year old would know how to use ! They can also be defeated by Third-Generation opponents who can react faster than America’s process-ridden , Powerpoint-enslaved military headquarters . They can be defeated by superior strategy , by trick , by surprise and by preemption . Unbeatable militaries are like unsinkable ships : they are unsinkable until something sinks them .

The American military is the greatest fighting force. We have just not been allowed to show our stuff. If we had wanted total military domination and control of the middle east, that could have been easily accomplished.
