You accuse them of being judgmental when all they are doing is giving you their view based on the bible. For instance, someone asks about going to hell. We give an answer based on what God states in the bible about who and who will not go to hell then you blame us for that answer when in fact it is merely what the bible says. That is not being judgemental. That is answering your question. Agree?

Kaliko I agree. I am a Christian man and sometimes I have to tell others (when asked) " I didn't make this up! I'm only answering your questions by what I have been taught.
What I have been taught is a code of laws and morals based on my faith in our God, and the salvation He has given us, Jesus the Christ". This I've adopted with my own free will.
If my accusers persist I reply with an even tone. " If you aren't prepared for the answer then don't ask the question".
Only once did I resort to C.S. Lewis's statement: (paraphrased here) the book [Bible] was written for grown ups. If you can't understand it then don't read it, go get a book of fairy tales.
My answers are based on said book. As close and as intelligently as I can be without actually having the book in my hands.
The trouble here my sister is the "one in a hundred syndrome". Out of a hundred men? One will read the bible and the other ninety-nine will read the man!

I agree to a degree.
But I also agree with the other party. Some ask for YOUR opinion not what the bible said. In other words "what is your opinion of what the bible said on so and so?"
If you don't want to be accused of being judgmental or of anything else, don't recite the bible, answer in your own words.
Please understand I am not trying to offend you in any way, I am just trying to explain to you why others might ridicule your answers.

Wait... if asked for an OPINION? Are you telling me they get their Opinions from a book and not from themselves???? I wouldn't say asking a question about hell and getting an answer based on the Bible is judgemental on the answerers part, but you are saying Opinion. If their Opinion is that it is correct that a supposed loving God is going to send non-believers to hell solely for the fact that they don't believe and nothing else, then it is OF the answerer and can be seen as judgemental on the persons part.

Opinions are based on what the individual thinks.... NOT what a book specifically says, even though their Opinion could be that the book is right.

There's a difference in asking for what the Bible says and what a Persons OPINION is.

I think they know what your answer will be, so the question is just an excuse to attack Christians for their beliefs. They really do not want an answer. I believe most of them are very well-educated and know what the Christian view of "going to hell" is.

Christians are all part of God's family. So of COURSE they're going to agree with Biblical Truths. Those who don't want to hear those truths shouldn't ask Christians for their opinions.

I completely agree with you, dear sister!

You sure do touch HOME on this one. I see this all the time. Most Christians do see it. Even withint our own families that arent believers. They refuse for you to even talk about God, or hate it when you pray even. Its all a taboo topic, and they tell you keep it to yourself, yet constantly they will ask Why do you think this or that? SO when we start to answer, before the sentence is even done, we are being hollered at for shoving what we think on them. If they dont want to hear it, why do they ask????? My personal beliefs are this. I do think everyone KNOWS on some level, as God says HE gives us all a certain measure of faith. We can either run with that to know more, or run from it into rebellion against God, but I believe that little feasure of faith we all are given, tells us it is so, that we need it and we are missing out, YET when they hear about it, they dont want to give up whatever their sins are, especilaly their very favorite ones..... and they fear truth, becuase it means they will have to change and maybe even stop living like they do. SO the part that has a faith somewhere, even if down deep , will make them ask questions, or even come on places like this, even tho they say they dont believe and dont want to hear about God or Jesus. Again, I say, why are they here? WHy do they ask?
This morning, a lady asked me at a garage sale why I believed it is evil to think we talk to dead ppl. She said she was a Christian, but talks to dead relatives. So, I pointed out that God says we cannot talk to dead ppl, that she is talking to spirits pretending to be her family, and they are evil. So I am beginning to tell her this is in the Bible. SUddenly, she says I DONT BELIEVE THAT< ITS BULLONIE. Ok, my question, why does she say she is christian, if she doesnt believe in all of the Bible, and if she had no intentions of allowing me to tell her why I believed as I did, why did she ask??? Down deep, they are all searching, but running from the truth and the light of God, fearful of what changes they have to make. So, we must love them, forgive them, and continue to live the truths as God says to do, and to speak them, boldly, without fear or compromise. YEt, we do not cast our pearl before swine. In otherwords, if they ask and then attack us for what we say, I will not continue the conversation. WHy waste time talking to the gospel about somone who refuses to receive it? Lets take it to those that are truly searching. No, we arent being judgmental. We are just doing as God says to do, and when they ask, we answer. I dont push God on anyone, but if you ask me, expect me to give an answer, or simply put, dont ask.
Note how many come on here, and tell us they dont want to hear about God. Really???? IF that were true, I would never be on a site like this. IF they think our faith is silly, why dont they just laugh us off and ignore us. Why hate us and feel the need to tear us down?? THey know, down real deep, that it is truth, just wont let it in yet. Keep praying.. I get some hate mail and even threats for the things I say on here, and I know I am not alone. But you cant silence a child of God.
No weapon formed against Gods ppl will prosper.
Keep doing what you do. God will bless you to overflow.

No, you give an answer based on what you think the bible says in many instances.

I have asked questions of christians before, such as this one:

http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlMBxAw3cMM0AHmkwzMrqZAgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20070908025249AALQepu

You can see for yourself how many differing opinions there are on a simple matter, and these from a group of people who are supposed to be using the same book as a reference.

The problem is that christians, in the main, ARE judgemental, and have many interpretations of the bible to suit the situation.

An atheist

The bible, as interpreted by Christians, is MASSIVELY judgmental. If you then quote it as if you ascribe to it's judgmental attitude, you ARE as judgmental as IT is. There's no way out of it. People will give you the chance to avoid that attitude, but if you don't avoid it, you're going to be seen as judgmental. Sorry.
