I am a platelet donor. Unlike whole blood, platelet donation involves drawing the blood into a machine, spinning it to get the platelets out, then returning the blood to your body. Once I'm "stuck", the donation takes an average of 110 minutes. So your 5-7 minutes to give whole blood should be easy!

Not that long. It depends on how quickly your blood flows. I would have to guess the average time is 10-15 minutes. It really is not that long. Some folks can go shorter than that.
Donating blood is a good thing to do.

I think like 7 or 8 inches.... or something like that. They put it on the vain, right when your forearm and upper arm connect. Or they put it in your hand or on your forearm. Hope this helps.
