I am a gay Christian male. I have constantly been harassed by some Christians who judge me for my sexual orientation. They quote certain Biblical passages but seem to forget some of the most important words Jesus ever spoke.

Luke 6:31

"Do for other people everything you'd like them to do for you."

Luke 6:37-38

"Stop judging, and you will not be judged. Stop condemning, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and you will receive. A large quantity, pressed together, shaken down, and running over will be put into your pocket. The standards you use for others will be applied to you."

Also John 3:18-19

Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions. It is by our actions that we know we are living in the truth.

Dear Brother,

Do I only practice the verses in The Bible that support my point of views? No, but life would be a lot easier if I did. We must be obedient and do everything that God wants us to do. We can not only practice the stuff we like because if we did we would have just made up our own religion. Something that is an off-shoot of what God taught. Christians should not harass you or judge you. I agree with all the verses you quoted.

However, we must also recognize things that are sins and strive to be free from them. We Christians need to love the person who sins, but reject the actual sins of the person. I do not agree with the people who harass you and show no signs of charity even though they claim to be your Christian brethren. But Christians in general can not accept homosexual behavior as normal. Just like we cannot accept theft or violence against the innocent.

1 John 1:6-10
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light, as he also is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all iniquity.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

All have sinned but God gave us a way to return to his glory. I am sorry brother that fellow Christians have hurt you. They have also hurt me. We have to learn to forgive and to strive to do God's will.

God's gift to us is our life, our gift to God is what we do with that life.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Your friend is completely wrong. Yes, it is true that the Bible says that you may do whatever you like with whatever belongs to you. However, a company, especially one that is traded on any stock exchange is not a company that belongs to anyone -- it belongs to the shareholders and investors. Of course, it is unethical, but even more importantly, it is stealing from someone else. Now, here's the flip side of the coin. There is always a catch-22 somewhere there, right? A layoff is different from giving yourself a raise/bonus. A layoff is an action that a company must / will do as and when required. Most employees have a no-clause termination written into their employment contract anyway. Similarly, a bonus/raise is something that is most likely written into that person's contract -- typically in the upper echelons of management. In some cases that bonus/raise has no bearing on the performance of the company itself. It's very little to do with ethics, per se, and more to do with the law, or to be precise the contract between the company and the beneficiary. I hope it makes logical sense, regardless of whether it makes ethical sense or not.

And Paul demanded that sinners be kicked out of the church SO THEY COULD BE SAVED. We think tolerance is an expression of love when in fact it is an expression of hate. Accepting you as an active homosexual will probably make you feel good, but it won't get you one inch closer to heaven. Maybe these Christians are more concerned about your personal salvation than your personal lifestyle.

You cannot claim to be a Christian if you engage in homosexual acts. Both the Old and New Testaments condemn such activity. There are no loopholes.

Am I being harsh? Some will think that way, but I do it out of brotherly love and for no other reason.

Yes, but we shouldn't say that it's okay in order not to judge.

Judging/Condemning = You are gay and so I'm better than you and you can't go to heaven.

If I acknowledge that I am a sinner too, and that you can still go to heaven if you have accepted Christ, then that is not judging, even if I said that homosexual actions are sins.

What matters is your view of your God... I think that the bible has it's flaws.. it may be the word of the Christian God - however it was recorded by man. When has humanity ever faltered in being cruel?
If you believe that your God will and has accepted you as you are, then what else needs to be said or done?
People constantly attack views and theories that they don't agree with - it doesn't make it wrong; just different.
I'm not Christian - but from the research I've done - it is a religion that tries to promote understanding and acceptance.

Did you know Jesus himself spoke of homosexuality ?

Read 17:34-37 and Luke 11:24-26, what is it to be "garnished" ?

throw those verses in their faces.
christians should not be judging non-believers. they are not without sin.

blessings.

EDIT: you know i've been thinking about this and took some advice from my husband as well...i guess homosexuality is right up there with promiscuity. they're both equal sin right. one must repent in order to be forgiven and be allowed to enter the kingdom of God. and if you are a christian then yes, i'm judging you and asking that you pray to Jesus and ask for a way to repent if you honestly want to be forgiven.
may God bless you in your journey.
He might just surprise the heck out of you.

I don't follow any of it. It's all nonsense. Many atheists became so from reading the BuyBull! It also says disobedient children and women who aren't virgins on their wedding day should be stoned to death. Also says insects have 4 legs (were they drunk when they wrote the BuyBull? How hard would it be to look?) Rabbits chew the cud, bats are birds, it's possible for stars to fall to Earth without destroying it, and many more idiotic things.

Amen! thank you. I don't know why people have to pick and choose things from the bible with what goes with their point of view (and their own common sense), but it gets old real fast.
