At 9 weeks the puppy does not have much control over peeing/pooping. The best you can do for now is to take him potty after he wakes up in the kennel, and after he eats and after he drinks. This means every 2 hours.
Once he is 12 weeks old then gradually lenghten the time he is kept in the crate/kennel. Also lengthen the time of play and socialization.

Keep the wee pad far away from the kennel. Do you plan on having him useing the wee pads for life? If not start taking him outside when he is 12 weeks or after the immunizations become effective - check with your vet when you can take him out.

When taking him out use a leash. Stand in the potty spot area and just ignore him but tell him to go potty. If he does go potty praise him generously.

There are drops (available at a pet store) which are helpful in marking a potty area.

Oh for goodness sake! It is a baby yet. Just a puppy. Give it time to learn the training. I have heard from the professional dog trainers it is not the dog that is the problem... invariably it is the person. So do go to your vet and ask for a recommendation to a dog trainer. We have a Puppy Preschool not far from here. I am sure others would offer the service too. Ring the breed association if you need to. I would like to see you and the puppy get some training. I don't want to think of the lovely little thing getting treated wrongly and I know you need to keep things according to your needs. The training will be good for both of you.

Good luck and big hugs for the little fluff ball.

Cheers

Remember he is is ONLY 9 wks old. He is still a baby. So you need to take out or to the wee wee pad frequently. Like just after he eats and after he plays.

You need to have the kennel crate only as big as he can lay down in. Block off the extra area with card board.

It's going to take time for him to learn all this....

A nine week pup should still be getting the chance to pee and poo every HOUR. And if you are leaving him in the kennel for 3-4 hours at a time, when you are HOME, what did you get a dog for? Good luck. To the pup, I mean :-(

EDIT: Get your facts rigt before you refer to ME. I DO have a puppy, as well as three adult rescue dogs. My pup WAS crate trained, and as it was done in a FAIR way, he loved it, and it was a doddle. I'll remember NOT to bother answering YOU again - your hostile tone is NOT appreciated.
