For the most part. I still become discontent at times, and frustrated at others. I don't believe that many of us can ever be truly content always; we are (most of us) required to live in a world where certain choices have to be made. Unless we can truly separate ourselves from such a world, continuous contentment will be elusive.
The Serenity prayer "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the will to know the difference" is likely the best approach to achive contentment.

Good question. Many, including myself, have abandoned the religion in which they were raised/indoctrinated and are left with . . .??? Catholicism didn't work for me any longer when I reached the age of reason (I am a thinker). With time, I found myself turning to the natural world - absorbing the beauty, the balance, the cycles and natural order of the countryside, seaside, mountains, etc. Along with that, I learned Transcendental Meditation. It taught me that "God", "higher power", the "force", (call it what you want) flows through me and can set things right in my heart, mind, soul. It's the same "force" that heals a wound, I figure. It's there, all around us. We need to be still and get in touch with it. Try it. I saved my life actually.
Lastly, I would recommend you live your best life. That means, activate and use your talents, your heart, your positive energy to make the world a better place whenever possible. Give to others, love wherever you can, be kind and compassionate. If you let this sort of thing flow through you and out into the world, your life will be beautiful. Each of us is unique. Each of us has a spark, a light. Some call this God dwelling within us. Whatever you come to believe about this, it is there to be actualised and shared with the rest of humanity. Warmly, Sharon

This is really a good question.
Although I am not Christian, I am very happy with my beliefs. I think if one questions their faith, they should seek out information on what they believe to be true or untrue. Sometimes, it means that , you'll have to do some deep meditation to search within, yourself.
I was raised mostly by my Grandmother who taught me the old ways of healing with herbs and potions. She was a very wise person. I know she spoke with those who had left this mortal realm. If she had lived in the 1600s, she would have been tried as a witch. I am happy we live in a more enlightened age, where most of the time, we are not scorned for our beliefs.

I was born and raised in the Christian community. I went to the private christian school and church 2 or 3 days a week. I was a devout Christian, but it nagged at me. I had too many questions... questions that could not get answers. I studied the bible like crazy in my teen years, and finally at age 17, i decided to branch out. I tried native american spirituality, taoism (which really compliments most other belief systems), and I ended up going back to my roots. I am Irish American, and so i started looking at the old Irish beleifs. Before St. Pat. I fell in love with the old stories and myths, and i found God in a way i had never known. He is my spiritual father and the Goddess is my mother. The Creator is who i worship, and i am part of that. I am a child of the Creator.
I do not agree with the Jesus death for my sins... I have never felt right about that story... i think there is a lot more to it than what the bible tells us, and we must close our eyes to follow it.
Anyway... i love the Creator, i have a fullfilling and wonderful spiritual life. I am Pagan.
I get through dificult situations with prayer and meditation. I feel more empowered through my own intution which the Creator gave me. I am happier than i ever have been. I am now 35, and have been living my path for over 15 years.
I wish for you the peace and wisdome you seek. If you must cling to the bible, read proverbs. I love proverbs, and the advice in there has helped me through things most of my life.

In climates the place it gets below freezing it helps to have a chainsaw to decrease firewood instead of having to apply an awl. you would be stunned how confusing, additionally, this is to proceed to be truthfully content textile looking a plate of pinto beans or a baked potato interior the attention 30 days in a row except you have a ability of adjusting some thing approximately it. Jalapeno and onion chopped up into the beans... a tortilla to wrap around it. Cottage cheese and whatnot for the potato yet even all that wears skinny ultimately and needs a smash for real contentment.

so you do feel the need to pray, have you ever wondered why? maybe its because deep down you know the truth but are afraid to admit it. I am a Christian and any time I have a problem I pray. simple as that God will get you through the darkest of days if you just let him, he wants you to accept, you said you were raised in a Christian family so I take it you know how to get saved. God Bless you and help you with your problems.

Nah. I'm not content. There is always more I can accomplish.
When I come up against difficult situations I keep trying until I overcome them.
There is hardly anything that can't be worked out with a little elbow grease.
Remember water. It is not exactly one of the hardest or sharpest compounds on earth. But given enough time it will turn just about anything to sand.

i strive for contentment.
i know that God has some awesome plans set aside for my life.
i also know that there will be some hard times in my path.
fortunately, i have a relationship with Jesus Christ, my savior. some of my heaviest loads have been lightened by the very shortest conversation with Him. prayer is direct communication with your creator...our heavenly father. He knew you'd be going through these troubles before you were even born...but you're longing for Him and you don't even know it. He wants you to have complete faith in Him because He will see you through it. He wants you to talk to Him and let Him give you the peace you long for.
may the peace of God that passes all understanding be with you today and forever.
blessings.

Lacking belief in God, I have developed belief in myself; learn to trust your own capacities and their ability to see you through difficult times. Family and friends are a wonderful support as well, but no substitute for self-confidence.
In the end, the one we need to have as our personal cheerleader, the one we need fighting in our corner---is ourself.
