I got a ticket for because my sticker on my license plate was expired.
I thought I had to mail in the money order and ticket by September 20th, Well I was wrong and they should have gotten it today (5 days before my court apperance if I choose to go but Im just pleading guilty so I just have to send in the money order).
Im going to send off the money order as soon as possible but it will probally be a few days late, Does anyone know what will happen?
The tickets only $75 and I live in Illinois I dont know if that matters at all.
Thank you

Well my car broke down and is gone so they wont be pulling me over.
Im sending it off as soon as possible so it will only be a couple of days late. Im just very worried. Lol. My first ticket. I think I did pretty good not getting a ticket til 21 years old.
They took my license do they just send it back in the mail?

Having an expired plate is not a jailable offense, so don't worry about a warrant. Since you're selling the car, you may have to prove it, and could compound the situation. For now, just mail in the fine, and wait to see if anything comes out of it. If the vehicle is not sold immediately, you may be forced to come to court. At this point, there is no exact answer. Unless you have a lot of tickets on your driving record, I wouldn't be concerned about your license being suspended. The only other possibility is that the fine may increase.

okay when you get a ticket (wether you have to sign it or not) you are not pleading guilty but are promising to take care of ticket on or before the court date thats on the bottom of the ticket. taking care of the ticket could simply be paying the ticket (BEFORE THE COURT DATE) or just calling up and asking for an extension (BEFORE THE COURT DATE).
however if you dont pay the ticket or show up in court, a warrant WILL be issued. the charge will be contempt of court, FTA or failure to appear. (different jurisdictions will vary the name of this charge but it means the same) this is a misdemeanor. its like you're telling the court yeah i got a ticket yea i said i'd be there but whatever. the courts tend to frown upon that. plus you'd be taking something minor that you can pay whatever it cost to get your tags current go to court and they'll most likely just drop the ticket. especially since this is your first one. if you sell the car. go to court with proof that you sold the car. again it'll probably be dropped. however even if they still want you to pay court costs($x). if you dont have it all say i only have ($y) can i have a little time until i get paid to pay the rest.
i dont know of any court in the land that would rather throw someone in jail than first give them reasonable time to come up with the money.

I live in Illinois and my dads a police officer here um if you don't pay your ticket on time you will have a warrent put out for your arrest because they consider you a convict then I guess so I would go down to the police department that wrote you the ticket because bail money is $200 dollars plus I believe you have to pay for your ticket at that time as well, sorry I would def. go down there and explain your situation becuase if you get pulled over I'm pretty sure you'll be arrested! Good luck!!!

You normally get a correctional citation for expired license and are given 21 days to fix it. But if you were given a fine and don't pay it on time, I think the fine doubles. Look in the citation slip and see if there is a website you can go to. If there is a number there call and request an extension.

You need to go in person to pay it and when doing so be sure that your license is NOT suspended.
For failure to pay a non-criminal ticket on time they will suspend your drivers license.
I suggest that you go to the ticket office / court address listed on your ticket paperwork and set up a payment plan with them or make other arrangements BEFORE the time expires or they will suspend your license.
Then, if stopped while driving with a suspended license you are subject to arrest.

don't listen to these fools most are clcueless. call the court in the morning. if you have to go to court on the 20th plead guilty and they will often give you a few months to pay if you ask the judge for it.

the court will return your lic as a retainer to payment--drop the charge as it is fixed since you no longer have vehicle??-make sure to change title so nobody else gets car and commits a crime while vin num is still in your name

A warrent for your arrest, till the ticket is paid. Depends on the state.

Probably a bench warrant issued until it is paid. These warrants are not actively pursued but can cause problems if you should happen to get puled over before it is paid.
