Making a Debit card?

Ok, so I'm 16 and I live in NY. I want to make a debit card, and I've heard that I need to take a parent along. My mom doesn't have a bank account, so can I just take her along and open an account? How much would I need to deposit to get started? The closest bank near me is Astoria and Chase. And what special papers or cards would I need to bring (school ID, passport, etc)? Thanks for any responses.

Take your mother and your ID to the bank. You open the bank account and they will mail you the debit card.

Remember, the debit card pulls money from your checking account. If the funds are not in the account you will get overdraft fees which are very expensive.
