Those who have a natural death (age or diseases) can feel they are dying and have such a spiritual support that fear and feel nothing. Their minds shuts off for a while, they stay unconscious for a while and their spirit stay in the body only for a few hours. However, those that have an unexpected death (murder or accident) tend to fear and feel more the pain and the agony. Their spirit might stay connected to the body for a longer time, for days.
Soul it the name we give the spirit when inside a living body. Spirit is more appropriate for after-death or between one life and the other, I should say.
The spirit usually goes to a place where can meet beloved ones, learn and be prepared to be born again. Some spirits, especially those that pass away carrying hate with them, ignorance, intolerance, revenge, and the denial of a life after death tend to stay around human beings for a while. They are lost, denying they are dead, normally around those he/she loved or hated, haunting, or sometimes even looking for help, hopeless. They all need prayer, so that they can see The Light and continue their journey.
Peace!

What is a Soul?
Right in the very first book of the Bible, Genesis, we are told that the soul is not something you have, it is something you are. We read of the creation of Adam, the first human being: “The man came to be a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7) The Hebrew word used here for soul, ne'phesh, occurs well over 700 times in the Hebrew Scriptures, never once conveying the idea of a separate, ethereal, spiritual part of man. On the contrary, the soul is tangible, concrete, physical.
Look up the following cited texts in your own copy of the Bible, for the Hebrew word ne'phesh is found in each of them. They clearly show that the soul can face risk, danger, and even be kidnapped (Deuteronomy 24:7; Judges 9:17; 1 Samuel 19:11); touch things (Job 6:7); be locked up in irons (Psalm 105:18); crave to eat, be afflicted by fasting, and faint from hunger and thirst; and suffer from a wasting disease or even insomnia as a result of grief. (Deuteronomy 12:20; Psalm 35:13; 69:10;) In other words, because your soul is you, your very self, your soul can experience anything you can experience.
Does that mean, then, that the soul can actually die? Yes. Far from being immortal, human souls are spoken of in the Hebrew Scriptures as being “cut off,” or executed, for wrongdoing, being struck fatally, murdered, destroyed, and torn to pieces. (Exodus 31:14; Deuteronomy 19:6; 22:26; Psalm 7:2) “The soul that is sinning, it itself will die,” says Ezekiel 18:4. Clearly, death is the common end of human souls, since all of us sin. The first man, Adam, was told that the penalty for sin was death, not transfer to the spirit realm and immortality. And when he sinned, the sentence was pronounced: “For dust you are and to dust you will return.” When Adam and Eve died, they simply became what the Bible often refers to as ‘dead souls’ or ‘deceased souls.’

Hiya , ,great question.
As you know there are many differing opinions about the condition of the dead.
Fortunately there is no such confusion found in the Bible on this topic, it is all very clear.
The Bible clearly says that ¨¨the dead are conscious of nothing at all¨¨
There are several scriptures that support this idea, and none that promote the idea of a soul that lives on after death , floating away to some heaven hell or other place.
In fact , the Bible says ¨¨The soul that is sinning , it itself will die¨¨
The Bible goes on and says that the dead are asleep in the ground ,and are awaiting the resurrection time when they will be resurrected back to life on earth.
The teachings of the immortal soul , hellfire , and a heavenly reward for good mankind are simply not true , and are of pagan origin.
These things are NOT taught in the Bible.
It is important to follow the truth according to what is found in the Bible.
The almighty God Jehovah will simply not accept worship form people that are following the pagan lies that Satan has generated.
If we truly want to serve God the way HE wants, we have to abandon all sorts of pagan and false religious ideas and teachings and worship God in a clean and undefiled way , according to what is written in the scriptures..

quite actual. ' Anomaly ' explains it o.k.. merely one little element to function,as we are all sinners all of us die. Jesus did no longer say we'd be unfastened from sin in our lifetime, if this have been so we'd no longer die "for the wages sin will pay is loss of existence", so if we've been freed from sin we'd stay constantly. Romans 6:23. The immortality of the soul is a pagan concept, hijacked by ability of devil and happened as a Christian coaching

To understand where the soul goes after death, one must have an understanding of what a soul is. A soul is a combination of two things. The human spirit which everybody has, the second in a body. These two thing make a soul. When we die our soul becomes split into the original two parts. Our body returns to the dust of the earth and our Spirit goes to the Spirit World, to await the resurrection and judgement day.

YOUR SOUL IS YOU
The only thing in your soul that belongs to God is God's spirit and it has a time limit for those born in the imperfections of sin, Adam was a form that
became a living soul, Adam would die in the day [1000 year day ], he sinned
in Gen.3:19; From dust to dust Gen.5:5; Adam was age 930, and only the spirit belongs to God Eccl.3:19-21; Man is not food for man or animals, but animals are food for man and the animals, so man was made to live forever in perfection, SO WE ARE PROMISED SALVATION BY RESURRECTION. Eccl.12:7 [ the spirit of man returns to God ]; WHAT IS RESURRECTION? Isa.26:19; Acts 24:15; Eze.37:12-14 [ the spirit of God returns to man, he is not born, but resurrected, as in created Psm.104:29,30 ];
So he told in Gen.6:3 [ the spirit gives a short life to shortest ]; Psm.90:10;
The offsprings of Adam have a short life and full of troubles and one thing is sure and that is death [ God did not wipe out the offsprings of Adam, they will be saved by resurrection ]. James 2:26; Isa.42:5; 45:18; Job 19:25,26; 33:4,22; 34:14,15; Psm.104:29,30[ As created, not born ];
In the resurrection 1Cor.15:22-28; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Rev.20:1-6, 12,13; 1000 years no Satan. All is made perfect 2Pet.3:13; Rev.21:1-5;
God is a soul Jer.9:9; God is a spirit John 4:23,24;

My latest theory is that the soul rises to a layer in the atmosphere where it mingles with other souls. When souls mate, their off-spring fall to earth and land on embryos.

well my theory is that it is like your dreams, and basically your brain is the buffer between the spiritual world and the physical world. this is how you can feel , touch , and smell in your dreams provingyour senses can function without the physical body. plenty people have died for a while came back and explained a place of ecstacy. read the true story 90 minutes in heaven.
