I would say that the events leading up to the American Revolution might have some effect, but the most influential was that America was becoming an independent nation; sparking the thoughts from some very intelligent people.
Our Constitution was formed by many different sources almost all of them unproven and quite abstract at the time. These concepts have worked fairly well so far, and there have been some who have wanted to derail them in the past. It is up to us as people to maintain these principles!
To know and understand our Constitutional rights is important.
