Macs are much better than Windows-based computers. Not only are Macs better at protecting against viruses, but they have lots of neat programs built in (GarageBand, iPhoto, iMovie, and so on), a built-in digital camera (I cannot say this enough times - it's really cool), and they're fast. Plus, if you decide you like the Windows operating system better, you can download a program called Boot Camp onto your Mac, and actually run Windows on it.

I have always used Microsoft as well and I recently went laptop shopping. I was tempted by the fruit of Apple but ended up getting an HP instead. I am in love with it! If I had the money I would get a Mac too because I think it would be cool to be familiar with Mac as well. There were four things that concerned me as far as switching from Microsoft to Mac.
1. I couldn't find a 17" laptop screen on a Mac (I may not have looked hard enough)
2. They are more expensive
3. I was worried about certain programs that I was used to not working on the Mac
4. I was worried about learning how to use it. I don't know if they are majorly different or not.
I think your best bet would be to go to a Mac store if there is one near where you live and ask lots of questions with a prepared list. Good luck! If you get one let me know what you think of it!

Dude, In few months time Macs could satisfy your needs. the Apple Computers will be integrated with Dual Boot which allows you to run 2 operating system on your mac.
Both Mac OS X and Microsoft XP/Vista.
Ofcourse get a Mac, and also Mac is 8x Faster than Microsoft's Operating system as Microsoft is always adding Compatibility mode for 98, 95, ME etc etc slowing the computer down.

I use to have a Windows before and then swichted to a Mac. Your right! Mac does have a nice glossy[i love that :D] texture...
I really like it much better and the iLife Programs are really nice as well. Useful for Making AMV's,Music,Making Music,Making Movies,etc..I really like my mac and had it for about...4years or so? To me Windows scares me for some reason D: It looks dull....When Mac has a more bright nice desktop. Here is a link to Apple [They sell Mac stuff.] Of course this is my opinion.

Look for reviews around sites. Look at other People's Question's here on Yahoo!Answers. Gives you many ways to see the pros and con's of a Mac.
Learning isn't hard at all. You just browse around and soon you get use to it.
Hope to here another Mac User soon! :P
Good Luck!

rule #1 buying computers for their looks is one of the stupidist things I've heard
this look can be the computer it self or the operating system, looks are looks,
I say go with a mac, I dont like windows(even though I'm on XP right now, my next computer will by no way be a windows),

Your best bet is to Go to an Apple Retail Store and Talk to a sales person and use one a little bit.
The learning curve isn't a biggy.
The best part is your computer issues go away.
