His dog just had puppies a few days ago. She layed on one and it wasnt breathing untill my boyfriend squeezed some air into it with a small bulb syringe. Now the puppy is alive but she is always gasping for air and has to open its mouth to breath. Milk is constantly coming out of it's nose. What do we do? Is there something that would effect the way it breaths and how its food goes down?

HI
it sounds to me as if the Pup is aspirating its milk I am not a vet but I am assuming that when the mother lied on it she stopped the breathing and now the lungs are injured or when the pup was revived it happened
You do need to get it to the vet to see if there is damage to the lungs and I am guessing you may have to from now on Tube feed it or watch it closely after nursing and help it to clear the Fluid
Again I am not a Vet so Get the baby into your Vet and Get the proper advice
Good luck to you and the Baby

Could be that the lung is damaged.. This is why you have to watch constantly. If you see the size difference between mom and pups, you can easily see that she could kill them if she laid on them.. Did you check to see if the puppy has a cleft palate? You can take the puppy in to the vet.. He can tell you if the puppy will survive..

Edit:
Moms rarely try to kill a baby cause they think something is wrong with it.. If mom thinks there is a problem with a puppy she will push them away.. Refuse to let them eat, turn her back so they struggle to get to the milk supply..
Mom's do lay on puppies because they get in the way.. Watching mom w/ the litter is a good way to prevent puppies from dying in such a senseless manner..
Letting nature take it's course, often ends up in DEAD PUPPIES.. Mom might have instinct, but she can't control and take care of everything.. YOU as her guardian are responsible for making sure things go well.. Especially when you are the one that bred her.. Puppies die in this manner, someone wasn't watching.

If the mother layed on the puppy, she probably did some internal damage to it. That puppy really needs to be seen by a vet now, actually should have been seen, the minute that the mother layed down on it and it stopped breathing.

Go to the freaking vet for goodness sakes!
Does the puppy have a cleft palate at the top of it's mouth? This can make it not be able to nurse properly- look at the top of it's mouth for any abornomal shape. To get it breathing if it wasn't at first you needed to rub it between your hands to start it's heart beat and breathing. Take it to the vet since you both obviously have no experience breeding dogs.
All of the puppies need to see a vet- they are supposed to within a few days of being born. Be responsible.
If it has a cleft palate it will have to be fed with a special bottle.

The puppy should have been taken to the vet right away as soon as he was breathing again. He probably has some internal damage. I would still take him to the vet, but sadly he's probably not going to make it.

Praying he will be okay.

I'm sorry but this puppy needs to be seen by a Vet. Otherwise for all your good and loving intentions, treating it without a medical expert advice is just allowing that little thing to continue to suffer.

I'm so sad that is happening, what you should do is take a,well it really doesn't have a name but,you should just try to at least take the little pup out side at least every day but don't put it on a leash just hold it and give it a lot of love.
JUST GO TO THE VET ASAP!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

obviously you need to go to the vet. Im guessing that there is something wrong with the lungs or throat or the puppy was born with a defect.

The puppy needs to get to the vet ASAP to find out what kind of internal damage it might have.
