I don't mean, just a passing interest but a real one. I mean in raising certain creatures and other things. Controlling of people. Immortality, etc etc.

You know the dark stuff, evil stuff, not so nice things.

The occult is seductive. But so is Satan. He appeals to our dark side in order to win us over to hate, power, arrogance, eventual depression and suicide, the end of most psychics and occultists. Giving into the temptations of the occult is simpy giving into the one who wants to destroy you bit by bit by appealing to your need for "power", usually over other humans. He dangles the bait and draws you in bit by bit.

This is among the most badly answered questions ever. Apparently, there are only three or four people here who have an idea of what the word Occult actually means.

Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, etc all have within them the Occult. The Occult is not necessarily something bad.

Popular culture has taken the term Occult to mean only magic and witchcraft. Again, topics which are widely misunderstood. Centuries ago, many Christians practiced magic. The Christian Occult has a long history.

It is not bad to have an interest in the Occult. In fact, it may be somewhat of a triumph. To understand and know that you have an unfulfilled desire or need for something outside yourself is a mjaor victory. Although, an interest in the darker aspects of magic might sugest there are some problems.

As for having a real interest, the things you have mentioned are not really important aspects of the occult. Raising creatures, gaining control, farting fire, or whatever are not things that the occultists I know practice. If you look into the literature, you will find that it is really looked down upon to even have these kind of interests. So, in that manner, other occultists might look down upon your specific interests as being futile.

Culturally, the misunderstanding of the occult has left a social stigma. So, to the average person, it is not wise to say that you have an interest in the occult. However, to actually have the interest and pursue after it is a very profound thing.

The Occult doesn't mean "Evil"... It only means secret knowledge. Those who have the secret knowledge can use it in different ways... um, where'd you get the idea that a real interest in the occult means only dealing with the "dark stuff, evil stuff, not so nice things?"
a real interest in the occult would mean you're looking for an understanding of the balance of things.
to just have an interest in the "bad things" would suggest that you are an unbalanced person, have no desire to become balanced, and anything you would attempt would either fail or lead you into madness or physical ailments. in that case, it would be bad and it would be best to just study up on the christians ideas of satan and demons.
but to have an interest in understanding the necessity of light and dark, the microcosm and the macrocosm, would be fine. to want to come to an understanding that all of those "creatures" live inside you and are only expressions of the dark or repressed parts of your personality could lead to much fulfillment.
now, assuming that you can grasp that all spirits are really a part of you, here's a couple quotes to think about:

but really, i can't tell you whether it's good or bad for you. if it's your will to see and seek out only the "dark stuff, evil stuff, not so nice things," then i can't stop you. just be sure to be fully prepared to accept every and all consequences of everything you do. know that you are the only one to blame for any misfortune that comes to you. and don't you dare come back and say that the occult is evil and of the devil if the "evil stuff" is what you've sought out.

What you and many others call "the Occult" is actually just another science, like Physics, or Biology. The important point is to approach the occult like you would approach a new scientific subject, and not loose your logical thinking and common-sense when you do so. Just like any sciense, it will fulfill your desire to discover the unknown, in this case the unknown is YOU (actually it is all the YOU's that fill up this cosmos) The steps required before you can do any of those "evil" ;) things are:

1. Read anything you find on the occult (western AND eastern, new age and Ancient), but don't take the writings as absolute truth. try out all the teachings one by one, be dilligent, and take notes of your experience. when you found your path (e.g. Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, Kaballah, Energy working, etc.) follow up on it.
2. Practice, Practice and Practice. Take detailed notes and compare them at all times. get to know your many bodies (physical, "odic" , astral, mental, etc.
3. understand the symbolism of the occult, both within your mind and without.

Always keep in mind that there is no "good" or "evil" in the occult, but there is self-less-ness, and selfishness, and if you follow the second path, then you will not get any powers associated with balanced bodies, and so you will not really get anywhere with the occult, thus there'll be no "evil" for you! ;)

remember that just like advanced high-energy physics, the occult sciences and their advanced "effects" are not for children, but you will eventually get there after attending university. the good news is: there are a great number of people who will be looking out for you and helping you (even though you don't know them) when you start on the path of self-realization.

once again, if that angry fire-elemental knocks on your door, and asks you to open, don't forget to do what you would do in real life: "ask them nicely to get lost"

P.S. You might have heard people tak about "evil magicians" or "evil occultists". Simply put they don't exist! but once you start to understand the occult effect of our everyday actions and thoughts, you will see that an act of e.g. having sex in the absence of true love or devotion, in the eyes of a real magician, is a dark deed of black magic. therefore, he will dub the person doing that a black magician. Many other people who know little of magic, call all sorts of interesting things "black magic"!

It isn't bad to have an interest in it. It can be really fun and exciting - as long as you do the research and know what you are getting into. With magick comes laws and responsibility. Opening yourself to the occult when you have not done the proper research opens you up to all kinds of spiritual attacks. You NEED to know what you're doing, you NEED to obey the laws - otherwise you'll find yourself in way over your head and in a lot of trouble.
Raising the dead, taking away people's free will, causing harm to others... these are no-no's... major...

I beg your pardon, but you've go the wrong idea about a lot of this. Where are you getting your sources from to be asking this question? Anyway, it's not a bad thing to be involved or interested in these things. People will deffinately look at you different or treat you different when they know about you like that, but it's not all bad and you don't have to be a nasty brute when involved. The dark also has the sweetest people.

I noticed in your question you used the words 'bad' and 'evil'. So I bet you know the answer but here are a few scriptures that show what God's view is of spiritism, occult, etc....


The apostle Paul warned Christians in 1 Corinthians 10:20-22 "I say that the things which the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I do not want you to become sharers with the demons. You cannot be drinking the cup of God and the cup of demons; you cannot be partaking of “the table of God and the table of demons. Or “are we inciting God to jealousy”? We are not stronger than he is, are we?

Deuteronomy 18:10-12 There should not be found in you anyone who...employs divination, a practicer of magic or anyone who looks for omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who binds others with a spell or anyone who consults a spirit medium or a professional foreteller of events or anyone who inquires of the dead. 12 For everybody doing these things is something detestable to God

Revelation 21:8 But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and fornicators and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur. This means the second death.

Notice what Ecclesiates 9:5,6 has to say about the condition of the dead - For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

Also Psalms 115:17 It is not the dead who praise the LORD, not those who go down into silence; but we, the living, bless the LORD.

Psalms 146:4 His spirit goes out, he goes back to his ground; In that day his thoughts do perish.

If you have faith in a God, you would have the answer to your question. We know there are 2 ways, Good and Bad, period.
If we choose the bad, we perfectly know what we are getting into, we are opening the doors for these "powers" to get control over us. It works, of course it works, anything you wish for, can be showed to you, so you can believe and do it more and more, but just remember "who" is helping you. He's very powerful...there are no impossibles for him, he will control you and make you think that :you have the power", when in reality, you are totally under his control, he can imitate any "voices" of dead relatives you want to hear.

second, raising 'creatures' immortality and controlling people, can't be done. you can under certain circumstances excert a certain amout of influence over certain situations, as for the rest, nothing more than inacurate hipe.
