When you don't have anything to work towards you end up just doing easy/boring day to day things.

When people don't really know what they want out of life or have vague goals such as "get rich", they will tend to continue to live their life in the same way they always have. They will not try new things and will resist change. They will stick to the safety of the familiar and routine.

To me it means: If i don't have any clear goals to direct me down a path, of one I choose, then, my life becomes routine, trivial (basically meaningless) and going nowhere!
