A sinus infection may cause post nasal drip, as can any common cold or nasal allergy.

Post nasal drip is mucus that accumulates either at the back of the nose or in the throat (can even descend into the lungs from there causing secondary lung infections such as bronchitis).

So post nasal drip is more of a symptom than an infection on its own.

You treat the post nasal drip by treating what is causing it in the first place - so for example, antibiotics for sinusitis, inhalation or steroid medication (if it's allergies) for nasal blockage, surgery for a badly deviated septum (extreme case) etc.

absolutely not. post nasal drip is usually caused by an allergic reaction. it can result in a sinus infection but the presence of a bacteria or virus is necessary to cause the infection.
