Three bits of information:

If you have a camera designed for removable lenses, then there's safety designs built-in that will let you remove lenses without the film being ruined. After all, that's how photographers can change lenses over and over during a photoshoot.

Second of all, if your lens is getting dirty on the front, there's no need to remove it from your camera. Just carefully use a blowerbrush and lens tissue to clean the front element or (hopefully you have one) your 1A or UV filter. Always keep a front lenscap on when the lens is not in use.

Third of all, you should never have to clean the rear element, as a standard practice to protect it is to always put on a rear cap when you are storing the lens off of the camera.

If it was an SLR or Rangefinder with interchangeable lenses no problem. Anything else and all bets are off. If it required the use of a screwdriver or hammer to remove the lens, I wouldn't bother developing the film either.

in no way use canned air on a virtual digicam. if it spurts the liquid out it will probably smash the electronics. is the cam beneath assurance? take it to a neighborhood digicam save and ask them for support. and are you certain its within the lens now not the viewfinder?

Its hard to answer this question without knowing what kind of camera you have, but most cameras allow you to remove the lens without exposing the film. Please re ask the question and tell us what kind of camera it is, so then we can explain where the shutter is.
