Thanks guys

I know that DVD's and CD's are quite cheap now, but CD's are far faster to copy. Most of my DVD's are torrent downloads and people ask me for copy's it is so much quicker to copy a cd than a dvd.

Some computers have an in-built DVD ripper - quite often installed in a media player (i.e. Windows Media Player) or similar.

These will rip your DVDs onto your computor.

You can then use the additional function 'burn', by burning these ripped files onto a CD. It's a little like copying a music CD:

You rip the music onto your comp ----> then burn it onto a disc!

I'd be surprised if the cost difference in discs NOW would make the effort worthwhile, but if you can get a DVD ripper like "CloneDVDMobile" and then use something like Nero Vision express to convert to a VCD format if you REALLY MUST,

Personally last time I bought DVDs and CDs, the DVDs cost me less. (Ritek branded, 8x DVD+R, full face inkjet printables)

firstly what you are trying to do may not be cheaper yes 1 CDis cheaper than 1 DVD but a DVD stores up about 7 times more the information I doubt any movie on a DVD will fit on a CD

you can rip your movies( but they wont have caption and language options anymore) there are free DVD rippers
