It has been recommended that you take an over the counter antacid preparation before taking the morphine dose. While on the surface this would seem to be good advice, it may interfere with the absorption of the morphine and decrease the analgesic effect.
While indigestion is not a common side effect of morphine sulfate, nausea is, as well as constipation. In addition there is a generalised slowing of the movement in the digestive system, which may be the source of your feeling of indigestion.
Omeprazole or other anti-reflux medication may be effective, but the effect would be decreased by the slowing caused by the morphine.
The best method is to decrease the amount eaten at any one time. Try eating 6 snack type meals rather than 3 meals. Additionally make sure you have good intake of water, at least 32 oz per day, preferably 64 oz, in addition to other drinks.
If you have difficulty with hard stools or constipation, this is one of the most common side effects with opioid analgesics. I routinely put my morphine patients on docusate sodium/senna concentrate tablets available at the chemist. Take one twice a day, if stools are still hard increase dose to 2 tablets twice a day. This usually controls the constipation. Some patients when constipated did complain of feelings of reflux, so try the above recommendations. Normally the side effects will subside without prescription medication.

Morphine is a one to make you constipated AND can easily induce heartburn (if not nausea)- There is an over the counter medication that does help with nausea, ask ur Pharmacist. Also, ask ur Physician if he can prescribe you an anti-nausea medication, such as Phenergan, which will alleviate some of ur problems. Also, a heartburn medication will help a bit. If you chew anti acid before taking morphine you will reduce the effects of the morphine, suggest taking anti acids fifteen minutes after but also suggest you try to walk about during the first 15 minutes after taking them or at least try to stand up for that period

Could it be that it has constipated you and that's what's causing the indigestion? I would suggest getting senna and docusate to help with constipation. If you have acid reflux, take prilosec for that. Is it making you nauseous? There are prescription meds your doctor could give you for that.

ask the doctor for Omeprasole this will help immensely
it is an anti reflux tablet and my doctor gave it tome along side metachlopromide i am also on morphine just had big shoulder operation
