So basically, your dog gets treats for being vocal? He's got you well trained when it should be the other way round lol. Ignoring him WILL work but its a question of who will give in first. Cesar Millan is on Sky 3 everyday Mon-Fri at 6pm. You should watch his programme "The Dog Whisperer". You'll be glad if you do.

haha Caesar Millan - he's ace. I forget which channel he's on - Sky 2/3?
My mum has a Parson's terrier (jack russel with long legs) and I thought he was the most vocal dog ever, but he doesn't sound as bad as yours. He does make some extraordinary noises though, like his special 'I've seen a cat' noise or 'you've just gone out without me' noise. Unless it's accompanied with specific behaviour, like exitement, then it's really difficult to stop it.

Check his teeth and smell his breath. If they are going bad then the sounds he makes may be from pain.
If its not this then get him checked out by a vet for other sources of pain.
He may be just a talkative dog but it would be unusual. I have had verbal dogs but the noises they made were usually at some one.

he just needs more atention, my dog does the same.
she acts liek a baby so she can feel special when you give her attention. maybe by another dog (if you dont have one already) for her to have some one to play with.
when you busy with something ust calm her down on the couch by you and let her sleep. to make sure she feels safe.
and maybe sleep with her at night and just spend most of your time with her while doing other stuff. like if yor friend has a dog take them for walks or to petco with your friend too.
i dont no if this will help though
good luckl

Stop the treats for awhile especially if he if sounding off. He might already be conditioned to whine for food. Also bring him to the Vet for a check up because he may have a health issue that is hurting him and doesn't know what to do.

My dog is pretty verbal too. Most of the time, I just ignore her. When it starts to bug me, we go for a walk or do some training to distract her and settle her down.

Ha ha!! We used to have a German Shorthaired Pointer who used to "talk" to us!! apparently, its quite common with this breed!! Yeah, it used to drive us mad....but since he died last year, I would give anything to hear him 'talk' again!! He always used to let us know if he wanted something....and not just treats either....he did this to let us know if he wanted to go otu, or to go to bed!! I really miss it!! We have another pointer now, and although he does 'talk' a bit, its not as much as the last dog!! Don't knock it!! you'll soon get used to it!! If you haven't had him long, maybe he's just settling in! Give him time! He'll be fine!!

Learning how to train your dog will improve your life and hers, enhance the bond between you, and ensure her safety and it can be a lot of fun. Dogs are usually eager to learn, and the key to success is good communication. Your dog needs to understand how you’d like her to behave and why it’s in her best interest to comply with your wishes.
