That is foolishness. Nobody knows the date Christ will return.

The Aztecs have nothing to do with 12-21-2012. The calendar in question is the Mayan Long Count, and it doesn't end. It goes from Baktun 12 to Baktun 13. That's all. It's like when our calendar went from 1999 to 2000. Same false drama/hysteria, except that a Baktun is about 400 years long.
So since the calendar doesn't end, anything you might believe that is based on that falsehood is not true.

They didn't believe the world would end on that date. Or at least they didn't say that's what it meant.
That date is the end of one of their Eras. There have been several Eras in their calendar, and they have all ended.
The only difference is, the ones that ended before, they continued on with the new Era. This time they didn't do that, so people think it means that the world is going to end then.
But the Mayans didn't say that. It's people NOW who are interpreting it to mean that. It could be that the Mayans just stopped their calender at that point, didn't take it any further for whatever reason, but that there are more Eras in the future anyway.

Hi and good morning.....The Mayans were great astronomers and philosophers of their time. They predicted the world as they knew it, would end in the year of 2012 due to the alignment of the stars and possibly the moon. They predicted great devastation to the earth such as earthquakes, floods, eruptions. Now the Mayans didn't know what the world would be like today and the knowledge that our researchers and scientists and our programs that assist in these types of issues. So with this in mind I feel that what the Mayans predicted was for the world as they knew it. They didn't realize the advancements that our world would have as today. I don't know if our earth will be destroyed due to their predictions or not but I'm not going to sit and dwell on an issue that may or may not happen. Have a great day!

I believe that December 12th, 2012 was marked as the last day on the myan calender as sign of where the myans got tired of counting.

The Earth will undergo a dramatic geological upheaval around this time. Some say it will actually change from a three dimensional world, to a fourth dimensional one. Which might be why the Mayan calendar ends there.

I heard the calendar maker died before he could train his son to do it. It is the Myan calendar by the way.

The Mayans and Aztecs were different civilizations. Each had its own calendar and they were not the same. That renders your ill-thought question rather moot.

That is not the only ancient calendar that said that. I believe the Chinese and ancient Egyptians also had calendars that ended then. Creepy yeah but no, I don't believe in it.
