to Fish:
congratulations, you have successfully proven, for once and for all, that lots of people believed in jesus a long time ago (and apparently now too.)
also, there is doccumented peoof that abe lincoln existed, it's called a photograph. Just because something is wrtten about, no matter by how many people, does not make it true. besides, those sources are not verified by today's standards.

I am happily NOT A CHRISTIAN. However, given some of the more rabid responses to your question that you've received from the mindless minions of mediocrity, I thought I would toss in my two cents.
Why would you want someone to convince you that reality is false and that sheer lunacy is true? Why would you want someone to convince you that logic and reason are wrong, and that blind, mindless, ignorant faith in fantastic stories from long ago is real? Would you want to drink a potion that drives people insane just because so many others drank it?
The evidence is incontrovertible. We know the bible is a poorly compiled collection of poor written, frequently contradictory myths that have been heavily edited, revised, and rewritten to suit the whims of various authority figures throughout history. We know these stories were composed orally by primitive men living in the Middle East; these men clearly didn't know the earth orbits the sun, nor did they know much about the geography, given that the bible makes no mention of the Western Hemisphere or any of the people there, much less any mention of the Far East. And, we know that these stories aren't even original. There are merely variants on myths that were commonly known to a number of different peoples in the Middle East during that period.
Likewise, Jesus is nothing more than a fictional character, a dead and resurrecting hero-god much like Tammuz, Attis, Osirus, and many others that were commonly known in the Middle East at that point in history. There is no credible evidence to demonstrate that he ever existed, much less that he will turn.
The ridiculous stories of the bible and the archaic dogma it preaches are woefully inadequate to help anyone cope in the modern world, much less to help human beings in general to find adequate solutions to the crises humanity faces.
Blind faith is the only step required to commit intellectual suicide; and why would anyone ever want to do that? Logic and reason must prevail or humanity will not survive the next few centuries.

Get yourself to a Holy Ghost filled meeting.
Look in your local phone book, find an Assembly of God or Foursquare Church-as them if they are having any special meetings (Evangalistic in Nature) and God to one. Even the Apostle Paul said this: "I come not with wise an pursuasive words, but a demonstration of the spirit's power". We can't do that here on R & S because we (believers) are quenched here, our questions get deleted so even if we did pray and God "moved" on our behalf nobody would see it or know about it.

I am a Christian, and a teacher of Scripture.
The only mandate from God is to plant a seed; we have no power whatsoever to see to the growth of the seed. There are plenty of seeds planted on this forum each and every day: If you want someone to convince or convert you, go to the muslims -
they are looking for recruits.
Don't hold your breath waiting for any true
Christian to "convince" you - its not gonna happen; maybe some church-goer might wanna cut n paste you a bunch of Bible verses, so have a blast with those. You have no spiritual eye to see and no spiritual ear to hear, so quite frankly I have no idea what on Earth those will do for you, buy hey, you asked for it, so enjoy it.
Any person who arrogantly asks for someone to give examples and proof and to convince them, isn't worth the skin they are walking around in; perhaps you are even so arrogant and stupid to believe that somehow God needs for YOU to be in the eternity? Gee, whatever would He do without YOU? Oh my, we would all be in terrible confusion without your wisdom and
insight, huh?
I have some news for you: we will get by
just peachy if you choose to remain on your self-destructive course and don't make it;
I know its hard for you to phathom that we
might be able to survive without you, but
we can, and if you don't straighten up your act, we will.

What astounds me is why someone needs proof of Christ when the calendar changed from B.C. to A.D. Or why someone needs proof of God when the work week only works well with a 7 day work week with a day of rest. I cannot convince you. That is the job of the Holy Spirit. Ask Him.

One of the most recent things that gave me certainty was reading about NDE. Yes, I know, for most people it doesn't prove God's existence, but the experiences of NDEers are so much in line with what Jesus taught that for me it's a confirmation of my faith. Take a look at my 360 blog entry about it: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-EnNdfhAwRKQgjDedjVEpYA--?cq=1
And then I have had so many experiences with God that I can't help but believe. One of the most dramatic was a miracle I described on answers once: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ao9gZ9CaHxXJPkraaTZfe9Lty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070617055115AAIQzhe
I hope you'll find the truth. : )

You don't want to be convinced....at least not with proof or scripture. None of those convinced me in the beginning. You have to be convicted by the spirit when your spirit is broken. Just remember that it begins with two choices. Everything came form nothing by complete cosmic accident or there is a purpose to everything from Divine creation. Both choices require a leap of faith. One leads to everlasting life.

My life as a Christian was about helping others not proving my faith. I still follow the charitable (non-theological) tenants of the Christian faith.
