You don't see this so much anymore, but men used to wink at women in order to let them know that they were interested. Are most women offended by such winking nowadays?

unless it's my boyfriend or my grandpa, yes, I get offended. it just looks sleazy coming from most men.

No I'm not offended but there is a time and place for a wink. If I get a wink from a man in a restaurant or during an evening out it's alright, if he gives me a wink at work then it's inappropriate.

I only prefer winks coming from friends or the guys I know. When it comes from a stranger, I will feel weird about it because of the world we live in today. If a conversation comes first and then something comes up where a guy winks, then it is okay too. Winking alone to try to initiate something is a no no in my book.

Nah, but it depends.
1st off:
When are you winking?
Its a bit wierd if you are in the middle of a loud, funny conversation and all of a sudden you wink. Now, it you are winking from across the room, I suppose thats different.
2nd off:
Are you a good winker
Haha, although silly, its true.
If it looks wierd when you do it, because you aren't good at them, it will either freak them out, or they will think you are just messing around with them.
3rd:
Do you even know the person?
If you havn't even tever talked to the person before, that is VERY wrong lol. That tells the girl, ok, you have looked at my body, and thats what you are basing your decision on. Ew. :D
I personally dont think its offending, but I prefer them walking up and talking.

I pay no attention to winking as it means absolutely nothing. It is what a guy says and how he treats you that is the problem these days. Can't find good ones, wink or no wink.

We live in a world where open communication is the norm now.
No man has to send subtle messages like "winking" to let someone know that they're attracted to her.

Depends on pre wink behavior. If the guy is creepy or sleezy in anyway..yea, it would disturb me. If the guy was funny, nice and interesting, then no I wouldn't be offended. It is nice to see a signal, sure is better than a clumsy grope.

i don't get offended at all. i can't speak for all women because all are different, but i think it is so cute when a guy winks at a girl. i think the rarity of it these days is what makes it cute. i don't think it is offensive at all.
