If you're in school, some junior high, high school and community (two-year) colleges might be able to give you a career aptitude test. This type of test simply asks about your hobbies, what environment you might want to work in, and some general pesonality questions and then, based on your answers, can recommend some career fields you might be interested in.

I did a quick search online and found this free aptitude test at Career Explorer:

http://www.careerexplorer.net/aptitude.asp .

It's free, but I'm not sure how reliable this particular test is. It should be a good start. But you still might want to talk to a counselor at school.

Hi 1490--- the information highway some times does not have what you need... Couple of years ago I was faced with the same exact question... I went to the education guidance counsellor and for the next 4 weeks ... I did testing.... The testing came back and I was completely shocked.. I was working in a career that I did not like and it was #7 on the list...... The other choices were law enforcement and that is what I am almost doing. I love my job and it does not pay well but that is ok... I never really had a lot of money.... .. .

Personally , I suspect the answer to what you are good at , is inside You , Not some website .

Some good aptitude indicators are in the union apprenticeship tests and the Air Force qualifying tests .
You do not have to actually become an apprentice
Nor join the military .
You just "take the tests" to see where your aptitude lies .

Also , what you think you may like But . .
How it works in reality are often different .
Start taking classes at a junior college and apply for internships .
The real time exposure to that job's duties will be veryyyyy educational .
Book learning (college) by itself , results in lots of totally clueless students who have Zero awareness of reality in the work world and often have difficulty adjusting .

Apply to take the aptitude tests .
Take some classes And do internships .

Good Luck
