Put down the knife and fork, stop raiding the refrigerator at night, throw out all the snack foods in your place and start walking at a brisk pace, but don't over due it... work up your endurance by gradually increasing the lengths of your walks. Running or jogging can be very hard on the knees and back; all you need is a good cardio program and to burn more calories than you take in every day and within 2 months you'll start to see positive results, as cardio exercise is what burns fat best.

Mainly good discipline and work, or otherwise, diet and exercise. I recommend reading Dr Atkin's "Age Defying Diet".
You need cardio and weight training exercises. Jogging is great for you, but don't over due it. which is hard to do. Get a sit up bench and do crunches daily. The mid body is the strongest and most important part of your body. A strong abdomen forces food through your system, and keeps the back strong. You need at least a couple of minutes of bone impacting exercises weekly to maintain bone mass, and therefore bone strength.
Walk as much as possible, and learn to figit. Your heart only pumps blood out to your body, it is muscle movement that carries the blood back to the heart. When you sit absolutely still, blood circulation slows. Jiggling your legs up and down, twisting your arms, and stretching your back all help to keep the blood flowing, as well as burning calories.
Avoid all sodas, soft drinks, even juices, and in general all sweet drinks like the plague, that stuff is the worse thing you can do for your body. Try to stick with water. Drink alcohol only in moderation. Eat as many raw vegetables as possible. This is the biggest key. Vegetables provide fiber that forces food through your system, as well as all the anti-oxidants that remove the waste created when your body burns food, and are a great natural source for vitamins and minerals. This allows you to feel good after exercising, and keeps you healthy. Red meat is good, but don't over do it. Try some lamb, great on the barbecue. Eggs are great, have eggs without the bacon and the sausage. Meat is the best source for protein, and many critical vitamins and minerals which your body uses to maintain itself. Carbohydrates are good, but it is too easy to over do the carbs and ignore the vegetables. Stick with whole wheat breads, try some yams now and then instead of potatoes. Carbs help your body burn the meat and the vegetables, but when eaten alone, without exercise, turn straight to fat and LDL, low density cholesterol, which is the last thing you want. Also, over cooked vegetables lose all of the nutrition, so raw vegetables are the best.
