Depends on what benefit you were trying to get.

Korean war veterans get the same benefits all other veterans get.

if you have a service connected injury, illness or diease, the VA will be happy to provide treatment.

If you do not have a service connected injury, illness or diease, then you will have to pass a means ( income ) test before you can be treated at the VA.

My dad was a Korean War vet, and he (many many years later) was diagnosed with PTSD, and started collecting disability for that. I don't know about any other benifits though. Seems to me that the VA is trying to save some bucks, though. I would circumvent the VA and go check with the Disabled Veteren Affairs people. They are a lot more on the ball than the VA. Does not matter if you are disabled or not. They will still help you out.

Definately do== but what benifits are you talking about?? do you have a service connected disability==is it on your record whwn you were in service--were you treated for anything ?? These are the questions you must answer. Even if you have no service connected disabilities you can still be treated at the VA facility. You must register at the nearest Health Care center. I am not sure if there is a charge for treatment if not service connected but they can tell you this at the health care center. You do receive eyeglasses for no charge along with the examination--This goes for all veterans. If you were treated for anything while in the service and you want to put a claim in you can go to your nearest Disabled American Veterans organization in your area and they will guide you to a service officer who will do the paper work for you free of charge. You might be in the same bind as me. You don't have a service-connect disability and you make too much money. That makes you Category Eight. I have a VA clinic a few blocks west of my home and I can't even register because I'm Category Eight.
