I am 26 and i know that i have basically not lived any kind of life i just want to die i truly do. I look at other girls and internally cry because i cannot be like them. People say dont worry about the past think of the future but its more complicated than that. I fifnd it hard to be seperated from my family, to be alone, i can do nothing for myself and i have fibromyalgia and major depression. I feel exhausted and unable to think all the time. I see my life passing me by and i see no way out.

Plesase dont talk to me about god, psychiatrists, hospital or suicide lines. i would be very interested to hear any stories of people who have majorly changed their lives

I had a very pessimistic attitude growing up. I hated everyone, myself, and life. It all changed the second I stepped out of my anger zone, and actually started helping others. I was able to and forced to completely tear down the walls I'd built and save lives. Workign with children is the most rewarding. You also have to do things for yourself. If you have not yet, then why? Don't be afraid to venture out! I am quite happy now and married to a person who had a similar past. Life is what you want it to be, but don't be concerned with how much it is like someone else's. Don't live an inauthentic life - do what you want when you want it. Why can't you live alone? Might want to find a roommate. Remember to always do things for yourself, even if it might seem selfish. At the end of the day and when times are tough you're the only one you can totally rely on.

The first steps towards changing your life are 1. make sure you are doing it for the right reasons (you) and 2. decide exactly what YOU want changed. Set yourself goals, small ones at first and then work your way up. You say you really haven't lived yet...what do you mean exactly? If it is a matter of you don't go out or something, set a goal that you are going to go out say 1 night a week for a couple of hours, make yourself a date night if you will. I a right now going through some major depression, I went through wondering if it was even worth being here. I have started going to therapy which has helped and yes, I know it isn't for everyone so I'm not saying that you have to, but talking really does help...if not to a therapist then to a friend, family member, or even asking for the advise on here. I was having trouble even wanting to shower in the morning, didn't think it was even worth it and really didn't care what i looked like...that was my first small step, I MADE myself get up, shower and fix my hair....even if i really didn't want to. By doing this I started feeling a bit better about myself. I had basically become a hermit...I went to work and came home...didn't want to even leave to go grocery shopping...after I got the taking care of myself thing under control my next step was making myself get out of the house for something other than work for at least 3 hours a week...I'm still kind of in this phase but so far it has worked. You will have your hiccups along the way but if you take it in baby steps when those hiccups happen it is not such a big thing and you won't feel all that overwhelmed. Within a year you look at how your life is and look back at how it was...you will notice a big change I promise you! I hope that this helps and I wish you all the best.

I know how difficult it is for you. Psychiatric conditions are probably among the worse illnesses anyone can have. I grew up with 2 brothers who were schizophrenic: my youngest daughter has a psychiatric condition, so I understand all too well the pain you are going through. But think about it this way. (1) You chose to have this condition during this incarnation on earth! (2) While you may not be able to control the psychosis, you can take charge of your life by taking greater responsibility for it like eating a diet geared towards relieving the symptoms, i.e. more fish, no sugar, no white flour, add Omega 3 to your diet - (4) 40 years ago people died from appendicitis and other minor ailments, today because of penicilin and other medicines, better diet, people don't die from these ailments (5) Tomorrow there could be a one pill cure available to people with psychiatric conditions and lastly but not least see www.brunogroening.org ... and try to find a Circle of Friends in your town.

Best.

Hi - I am 42 and have been living with fibromyalgia (or at least diagnosed) about 5 years ago. This disease can cause all of the symptoms you are explaining. Please listen to me - there is help out there. Here are some major things that helped me:
- steriods - and actually receive steriod injections in my muscles
- anti-depressants - there are certian "natural" therapies which work on serotonin and melonin replacement. this helped tremendously. You need to try to get on a regular sleep schedule which helps
- YOGA - this is really great.
I feel for you because I have been there and I have been through some amazingly difficult times in my life. Death of unborn children - involved in a car accident that had a tragic end - lost my job - I could go on forever.

I know you said don't talk about God - but he has helped me when I decided to let him in - if that is not what you want to do and I can completely understand - try meditation too. this can be such a centering experience. I know the pain of not being able to concentrate and feeling helpless and hopeless but there is hope. Begin to feel that hope. Picture youself in your minds eye - free of fibro. free of your worries. start each day that way you will be surprised at how this helps.

Please feel a big giant hug from me and know that you are important and so is your life. You may want to read "what color is my parachute" good book.

Peace and love coming your way

I recently awoke to the fact that I've been living a lie my entire life. I've spent 30+ years projecting an image of myself into other people's minds. I'm still doing it but I'm working on letting it go. The more I let go the closer I get to finding myself. It was so hard to maintain the image that I often rebelled against myself.

What got me to look in the mirror was a combination of several things. A couple of things were: A friend confronted my rage and stuck by my side. While living on my own I visited the library and found a book called, "Why Does He Do That?: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men." Then I did the "Growing Down" exercise at coping.org. After that I found Pathways to Peace Anger Management Workbook and did that. Then I read the following two books: When Dad Hurts Mom: Helping Your Children Heal the Wounds of Witnessing Abuse & Growing Up Sad: Childhood Depression and Its Treatment.

Basically, I've never found my heart. I've never seen people for who they are (instead of what they are to me).

P.S. I'd like to point out that the closer I am to finding myself the more courage I have to sum up to face my issues.

I get LOADS of help from this website:

www.DailyStrength.org

On it are people with exactly your problems: Depression, Family Issues, Loneliness, and Fibromyalgia. The people are really human beings, not professionals, who are just where you are in their lives. They are not fake. You can read their journals (I'm on it, too) and see their daily struggles, so you are never alone. You see what works (or doesn't work) for them. You can ask questions & get varied answers, from different points of view, all over the world. No religious hype, no ads for drugs or cures--I just ignore the ads. Just people, helping out other people! You can try it right now! The group is there for you, 24/7! It's not for dating or for losers, just regular nice folks.

You need to find a job you enjoy as much as possible, a hobby and maybe a partner. Those are the keys to happiness in life.

I think depression is a tough illness but if you can just take the edge of it then that's the main thing. The main thing is just to try coping and getting out and doing things. Medication may be good for a while but it's really up to you.

I'm 26

10 years ago I went crazy but after 10 years, I perceive reality 10,000 times more clearly.
I take medications for manic depression and schizophrenia.... but even so, I've awakened to the truth --- it is called Enlightenment.... but really, it's just a very simple and easy discovery of what I really am.
And being aware of what I really am, all misery has disappeared from my life. I now experience gratitude and satisfaction with what is.

I no longer see any problem as real. If you want to talk, use Yahoo! IM.

Let's see....I was molested by a family member as a child. It messed up my chances of ever having children. My first husband committed suicide after he had gotten into some trouble with the law. My mother committed suicide 3 years later when she lost her job at 58, and she was still too young to draw social security, but too old to find another job. Life is what YOU make it. I intend to make mine happy instead of always reflecting on what I don't have or should have done.Life is not passing you by. Jump in and participate!

I am the perfect example!!! I am 17 years old and I have been suicidal since I was 13. Because my sister had done horrible things to me. Truly horrible things. I tried to kill myself last year and I had to go to the hospital and get stitches. The way I turned my life around was by cutting off all contact with her. You just need to get away from the things that are bringing you down.
