The proper cords, but that stuff is easy and any Wal-mart, Best Buy or Rent a Center sales man can tell you what you need.
Heed this call: Look into the life of the T.v. most last 3 or 4 years, ask them which one has the longest life expectancy. When I went in to buy my plasma I actually wound up getting something else, the sales man that day was a saint and not a crook. He explained that on most t.v.'s you pay about 900$ per year it last. Thus, a 3k plasma is only going to last 4yrs (maybe) depending on use.
Playing Video games on it drops the life expectancy.
Get the better cords, it makes a difference.
P.s. The link is to the Best Buy site where it shows 189 different things for HDTV's. I don't know what you are useing it for besides T.v so check it out. Just go to 'Cable box' OR 'Tuners' or 'Accessories'
Should have everything you need.

Some HDTV say that it is HDTV but actually is it HD ready which mean you have to buy an additional component for it to be true HD. Are you buying a HDTV plazma of HD LCD? The both have different features and some do not come with speakers. I know that in some Sony models, the speakers were extra, other had them built-in.

Do you have cable service? You'll need a cable box and cables for HD. I'd also suggest getting a warranty for the TV. Normally we don't but the lamps burn out after about 2 years and they are expensive to replace, at least that's true of ours, a Sony XSRD, which is otherwise very good. You might also consider investing in surroud sound as well, for the full home theater experience.

first off, good call. HDTV are at an all time low. the only thing about HDTV is it seems to be a lack of quality HD content unless your willing to spend hundreds maybe thousand on new generation DVD players like blu ray and HD DVD. as far as live TV, even with an HD box only 20 some channels broadcast HD and even fewer are worth watching. gaming however has become one of the easier areas to adapt to with xbox 360 and PS3 (love wii, but no HD). would recommend one of the new DVD step player, make your normal DVD's look better and a HD cable box. more channels have to HD sooner or later right? as for as HD DVD player, hold out, were about to see a huge price drop..
after a quick search i found this, looks good. for about $400 you get a step up player.

electricity will make it perform adequately, usually an input from a provider with HD capabilities works too.
