yes i am doing all the obediance training. have got a special program going for at home too. have had some one out to asses him and he suffers seperation anxiety and and apparently has a special fondness for me(you wouldnt think so but) he is not so much aggressive as fretful and in the past has thrown his weight around when he thinks i am going inside etc. he is getting a lot better we do such exercises as sending him away from me , telling him to stay if he approaches me and only giving him attention when does not demand it. but i just thought that maybe it would help. it has been a long and tiring experience and at times heart breaking. any more tips would be appreciated.

Patricia McConnell has two very good books that are short, to the point and inexpensive
How to be the Leader of the Pack (how to get your leadership back)
I'll be Home Soon (for Separation anxiety)

They are available at www.dogwise.com or amazon.com

one poster mentioned NILIF a great program to follow and it does work. I hope the trainer you are going to is knowledgeable about it and will start you on it. Testosterone is not the cause of your problems, leadership issues are. He would like to be, and you should be. I had an intact male Rottie, that was not pushy or demanding, and I didn't have to "dominant" him by rolling or scruffing, etc. Nilif-it works. You can try using Comfort Zone that uses DAP to calm down dogs, I get 75-80% positive feedback from clients.

If the dog is under the age of 3 years, then it will have a higher energy level and depending upon the breed, which can be a factor in the behavior, the energy level will decrease as the dog ages.If the dog is trying to make you pay constant attention to it at all times(do you work all day and the dog is alone for a duration?)you may need to get the dog a "friend" (another dog) to keep him busy during the time your away and this will also give you some peace when you get home and not have the dog on you constantly,oh they'll want attention from you when you get home but they will go play once they get a little attention.AND if the dog is older, they make a prozac for dogs if it's that bad.

Vitamin B Complex soothes the nerves but this is not your dogs problem IMO.. He just needs a good course of Obedience. This is not a testosterone problem either. He is nuetered. Just get him under control with some good training. Give him something to do besides boss you around.
Also look to his diet.. A diet filled with a lot of grains can make him have a lot more energy then he needs. NO CORN is a start. Also a lower protien might help. Buy him a quality diet with no more then 2 grains listed in the first 5 ingredients.

You HAVE dropped his testosterone levels - castration removes one of the main sources of testosterone! The remaining testosterone is produced in the brain.

People expect castration to calm their dogs down, but this isn't usually the case. It only removes sexual behaviour - if your dog is still hyper, it's because he's a hyper, dominant dog. Castration is done for the dog's health and dog population, not as a behaviour fix.

You need training for this, there is no quick fix. Dominant dogs need to be taught that they are NOT the dominant role in a relationship - you and your dog need to enrol in training classes to find out how to achieve this.

The behavior you describe has nothing to do with testosterone levels and everything to do with your dog being of the dominant strong willed type. Theses dogs need strict training and can't be allowed to get away with anything. They need firm guidance and structure. You need to practice NILIF (Nothing in life is free) training with him. In otherwords he needs to work for everything he gets including his dinner.
I know you said you are in obedience training, i suggest you continue with it and even step it up a notch.

Neutering is the only way I have heard of to drop testosterone levels. He is probably just a dominant dog. Temperament is genetic. Neutering can't change it.

testosterone isnt the problem here honey, you need to take control of your dog, he doesnt see you as the pack leader. and therefore doesnt respect you. As far as vitamin b goes, while good for your dog, it isnt going to have any effect whatsoever in behavior, he needs rules jut like kids do. set boundries and make him obey them. Its hard to better help you with not having much info to go on, but if you want to be more specific in another question, I can probably help alot more.

Instead of thinking about this, why don't you train him??? Get yourself and the dog in some good obedience classes.
