I live in Virginia, which is just becoming aware -- with a vengeance. Although we have some "sanctuary cities" such as Virginia Beach and Fairfax Co., the sudden "vote-out" of ALL the counsel members in the city of Herndon (Fairfax Co.) who supported illegal friendly programs seems to have thrown some cold water on the whole process.

Organizations such as Help Save Virginia have formed splinter groups such as Help Save Maryland, Help Save Fairfax, Help Save Virginia Beach and Help Save Manassas. Help Save Manassas has been the most effective so far in reducing the number of illegal aliens in the county. They estimate between 30-40% have left the county since they instigated laws, enforcement and other measures denying services to illegals. It's been very effective, but they are striving for 100%.

(From their website): Illegal aliens that reside in Prince William Count are clearly getting the message that this jurisdiction will not tolerate the continued presence of those who are determined to flaunt our immigration laws, disregard our laws regarding identity theft, residential occupancy limits, or laws prohibiting driving without a driver's license or proper auto liability insurance . As a result, those businesses that have illegal aliens as a significant customer base are reporting 30-40% drops in revenue. They may contend that this is a result of illegal aliens "hiding out", but it is questionable at best that illegal aliens have decided to stop buying food, or doing their laundry. Our belief is that illegal aliens are leaving Prince William County, and this is undeniably a positive for the legal residents and citizens of Prince William County.

I also live in Virginia (in one of the lovely sanctuary cities). We have been historically very lenient with illegal immigrants.

As late Virginia is starting to get strict with taxpayer funded program and other services, but we are also overrun with advocate organizations fighting any attempt to limit such services. The success in Manassas was a jump start for many other cities and counties to try to reform their policies towards illegal immigration and it does look like progress is being made.

The most lenient in my opinion would most definitely be California, I do not know how California taxpayers make it. The strictest right now would likely be Georgia (again, my opinion).

California is the most lenient. Governor Schwarzenegger has given free benefits away like a carnival.

And it's the most lenient in Los Angeles where Special Order #40 prevents anyone from the police or government agency from asking you what your "status" is.

It's the ultimate "Sanctuary City", although there are several others in California.

I live in Wisconsin, and, I was just about to say that we are one of the more lenient. LOL. Sorry, Dog Tricks.....

Up until April, we gave licenses without proof of legal status. THe undocumented are rarely deported (or reported by police to ICE officials).

However, we do NOT have any undocumented on public assistance. At the time of appointment, the worker checks to make sure that name/ ss #/ DOB match, and, if they don't, they are not eligible for any type of public assistance. THe only exception is WIC (for children under 5 that are born here).

I live in Wisconsin. We have strict laws. From what I understand the border states have the least strict laws.

Not to worry Amanda...I was speaking of benefits anyway.Which as you pointed out they don't receive. You are correct about the deportations they don't.They leave it to the Fed's who don't bother either.

I live in New York, on Long Island and I can tell you we cater to these people. We build buildings for them to get off the book jobs in a safe way, so there is no risk of them being attacked by upset tax payers, they also allow them to get schooled for free. They have taken over three large towns and are squeezing there way in more. I'm so thrilled to see my money going to these dogs. Grr.... we need laws and need them to be enforced.
