I keep getting random strange feelings in my lower legs. My thighs are sometimes slightly sore. The feeling is that a random area goes cold for a second or 2. I have Perthes Disease in my right hip (similar to arthritis). Does anybody know what this is? My legs aren't really painful when squeezed, and I've had it for about a week. Could it be my new shoes?

when you start wearing new shoes you are exercising muscles that were not being used when you wore the old shoes. So it's pretty common to feel pain in the legs and sometimes the lower back and hips when you change shoes. Take a hot bath at night with 2c. of Epsom salts and this should take down the pain. Advil liquid capsules work quickly on pain reduction, take them four times daily.

Perthes disease leaves the femoral head (ball) mis-shapen and quite often not moving properly in the joint. Muscles are affected too, particularly as one characteristic of perthes is that the femoral neck is shortened and weakened, so this affects where the muscles attach, how strong that joint is and how well the whole leg works.

Might be worth seeing your doctor and getting an xray done of the hip to see what state its in and whether or not that could be causing the problems you mentioned.

With regard to new shoes - are they ill-fitting? Have you ever experienced this with new shoes before? Do you only have this sensation when you are wearing these shoes, or does it happen at other times too?
