You should take her to a doctor, this could be nothing more than water retention because of the hot weather, have her drink lots of water, but this could be something more serious too, poor circulation in her legs and feet and this could lead to stroke. Sorry I don't want to scare you but your health isn't anything to play with.

I don't mean to scare you but this could be an indication of a kidney (especially if she is borderline diabetic) or a heart problem.
Other the other hand, if this only happens in warm weather? it might not be anything to worry about, as this often happens to people.
Best to take her to a doctor so he can check her out and make sure everything is okay.
Good luck

Is your midwife checking your blood pressure? If so, how is it? Is it high or normal? Is she checking your urine for protein? If so, is protein present in your urine? If you can't answer these questions because these things are not being monitored (blood pressure mainly and if it's high then presence of protein in urine) then you need to seek medical assistance NOW to make sure you do not have pre-eclampsia. Like the first poster I went through that with my second child. With my first one I swelled a lot but my blood pressure was ok but with my second child my doctor could not get my blood pressure down even though he had me on heavy doses of blood pressure medicine. He ended up inducing her and there was a medical team in the room in there for me and one for her. You couldn't hardly MOVE in that room due to all the people in there! Fortunately, everything turned out fine. Your midwife may not like it but your baby's wellbeing (as well as your own) come first before hers so if you haven't had these things checked or if you have high blood pressure on top of this swelling get yourself to a hospital or your doctor asap. Good luck.

At that age she shouldn't have this swelling. It is possible that it is from her heart. I would take her to a good doctor for a complete check-up.
Best wishes for her.

take her to a doctor, then take her to another one to get a second opinion. Don't ask medical questions of people with no medical training.
