A 'cold' is a minor respiratory infection that humans get that we can shake off easily on our own. In this sense, dogs do not get 'colds' although they do get respiratory infections that cause coughing and/or sneezing.
No they don't usually shake them off on their own. Coughing in a dog is most likely to be kennel cough, a lung infection that can be either bacterial or viral. Dogs can have kennel cough for years without it causing too much of a problem, but it can also be fatal if left untreated. Also, not nice for a dog to be coughing for so long!
Coughing can also be a sign of heart trouble. You're wise to take the dogs to th vets for a full check up, and to be vaccinated if they're well enough - kennel cough can be vaccinated against. While dog respiratory infections can be minor, it's a lot less likely than in humans and, given the potential consequences, it's worth treating.

Let me see if I can understand what you're saying. You want to get high on 8 cold and cough pills Your friend gave you red pills and you're 13 years old. You're stressed and you want to commit suicide by getting 8 colds and taking red cough pills. If your parents ever taught you anything, that is never to take pills from other people. If you want to relieve stress, which I doubt that you know what stress actually is at the age of 13, go for a walk. Forget about the things you can't control. Talk to your parents. Enjoy the holiday and have a good time.

I would definitely take the dog to the vet. Coming from a "warden type" place it could have Kennel Cough that is contagious and common for places like that, it can be fatal if not taken care of in a timely manner!

Yes they get them. Usually, you need cough syrup and a antibiotic to make sure it doesn't get worse. It sounds like it might be kennel cough. Good luck.
