I was told a day at room temperature for eggs is equivalent to a week if you keep them in the fridge.
So refrigerate your eggs, and take them out before hand if you need them at room temperature.
Some supermarket in Australia now store their eggs in refrigerated areas.

I think its just habit now for people to do so and they are out of the way so there is less risk of them being broken. Don't really need to put them in the fridge though because they last a long time before going off. Most eggs in supermarkets can be up to 12 weeks old. Looked after friends farm for a
couple of weeks and collected eggs each day - some of the eggs I ate where collected several weeks before I arrived and they were just fine. They weren't put in the fridge just a cool room.

They are in the shop in a cool space and if you do not have a cool larder to keep them in then the fridge is the next best thing.
However you will find that the eggs cook and taste better if you take them out of the fridge an hour before you cook them.

Many supermarkets sell eggs from refrigerated shelf units but fresh eggs can be sold unrefrigerated for several days without going bad or off especially since they are not likely to be in the shop for very long and the shop has air conditioning. We take them home and refrigerate them so they'll last longer.

Because they are supposed to be stored at room temperature. In supermarkets, they are kept in room temperature conditions, never chilled.
The reason they do not 'go off ' is the reason why they all have a shelf life date.

They don't need to be stored in the fridge, just in a cool dry place. Also, you should store them in their original box to prevent any risk of contamination from the shell.

Eggs sell so quickly in the shop that there's no need to chill them. They spend more time in your home.
