The Christian religion is based on Judaism. In the old testament there is a prediction that there is going to be a savior. When Jesus came, he fulfilled all those professes, thus proving that he was the savior that the Jews were looking for. Unfortunately many of the Jews did not accept him but many gentiles (everyone other than Jews) did. Making Christianity a religion that everyone could practice. This makes Jesus the founder of Christianity.
Jesus was God and there are many statements supporting this. Such as I and my Father are one, and in the beginning was the Word(Jesus), and the Word(Jesus) was with God, and the Word(Jesus) was God. So Christians believe that that there is one God with three parts. Jesus, God that Father, and the Holy Spirit.

JESUS lived. Whatever name he may have had, the individual known as Jesus (the Hebrew name being Jeshua or Joshua) was an actual man, a great sage. He was, furthermore, an initiate into the secret doctrine of his period; and around him, after his death, grew up legends and tales which were woven in later days -- say a century after his death -- into the so-called Gospels.
The Gospel story is merely an idealized fiction, written by Christian mystics in imitation of esoteric mysteries of the Pagans, showing the initiation trials and tests of the candidates for initiation; and it is not very well done, there being much error and many mistakes in the Gospels.
Within a short time after the alleged crucifixion of the Master Jesus -- at any rate from the time when the Christian Scriptures began to have circulation in the Mediterranean world -- and all through the Middle Ages and till nearly our own days, men quarreled and fought about the documents composing the Christian New Testament, not only with regard to just what these documents had to say, but about mere words and phrases, and also as regards their age and who wrote them. Even today nobody knows anything positive, real, and certain about them, although many clever and learned theories have been emitted and have been accepted as true because of utter lack of positive proof.

It depends upon your perspective. If you're one of the many flavors of Christian, then you may see him as G-d or as G-d's representative on earth. Personally, I'm Jewish. I believe he is the leader of Christianity, and a wise sage. Christianity didn't gain much popularity until around 200-300 years after Christ's death, so there were really other "founders" of the religion.

Jesus is NOT God. He is the son of God. There are many scriptures that back this up throughout the New Testament.
His preaching, with the help of his apostles, brought about the "Christianity" movement. This was pure Christianity, until the death of the last apostle, John. From there on corruption set in like "a wolf in sheeps clothing."

Read John 1:1. The Word = Jesus Christ.
He was(is) here before creation and He IS also God.
The only way to have some form of realization of what this truly means you would need to be a Christian. So yes, too,Jesus Christ is the founder of Christianity.
John 1:1....'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God.'

Jesus Christ is Our invisible God made visible to us through the virgin birth. Jesus Christ means Annointed Savior. This is the Truth that His Church was founded on and it will stand forever. He designed the Church through the Apostles. And even though it has been persecuted throughout the ages of time. It will prevail.

Jesus, as the second person of the Trinity, created the world (Col. 1:16).
Jesus is the great 'I AM' which spoke to Moses from the burning bush (John 8:24-27).
Jesus is the foundation which the whole church (Old Testament and New) is built upon (1 Cor 3:11).
Jesus is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending (Rev. 1:8)

I don't think that it was Christ's intention to create a religion based on himself. What was recorded in the Bible was written long after his death. He came here simply to carry God's word. Man chose to kill him and make him a martyr, that was not a decision Christ made. Once when he was called "good", he replied that he is not good, only his Father in heaven is good. I suspect that he simply rolled his eyes at us when we created religion after religion based upon him.
Blessed Be

Jesus Christ isn't actually a god himself, but the son of the God. Jesus was actually a Jew originally but the Christian faith are the only ones who believe him to the son of God. The Jews believe that he was simply another prophet.
Im not sure as to whether he actually founded christianity though.
