After all, wouldn't we ALL prefer peace?
Through love, we can bring an end to hate. When we are loving towards others, they can then learn to be loving towards us.
I would never expect a person to give up their religion, religious beliefs or non-beliefs. Only to accept all others unconditionally. Loving all others as much as oneself.
Every time we argue, we damage our reputation with the person we argue with. Surely we should embrace what we dislike, and learn to understand it better.
So come on, people. Let's have a group hug and declare today a day of absolute tolerance on R&S.
Remind yourselves that there's no reason to offend others.
((((Hugs all))))

Fulanito: I think you misunderstand.
Diversity is absolutely what I have in mind. I would not wish to destroy diversity, only to promote tolerance within diversity. For each and every one of us to accept all others as our human brothers and sisters, and look beyond things like religions and race.
For the R&S section to be purely about learning more about other religions, rather than widening the rifts that already exist.
Basically that everyone can shake hands and share a great big group hug, so that our children can grow up in a world without intolerance.

I'm not gay, but this here is exactly my meaning.
((((TONY))))
It's about looking beyond parts of a person's identity (Black, White, Christian, Muslim, Gay, Straight...etc), and just loving them as human beings.

I was kinda hoping there would be no thumbs downs here.
All of these answers are contributions, and should not be regarded as bad answers.
After all, is it not a display of intolerance to discount another's opinion.
However, that's just MY view. I do not expect anybody to share it.
((((still hugging all))))

I can not ever tolerate anything that is not truth, Even the Apostle Paul say if anyone or an angel from heaven preached unto you any other gospel then what we have preached let him/her be accursed, & it also tells me what does light have to do with darkness, & what does righteousness have to do with unrightousness, & what fellowship have we do to with unbelief, But I will tell you one thing, I will pray for them. & I will work with them on the assembly line, but to agreed with them & their lifestyles, rather sinner, or unbeliever, or whatever. that is something I will not do, only satan would talk like this to embrace everyone, Did Jesus embrace those in the temple that was selling things. NO.

unfortunately there are some people out there whom you just cannot change,b'cause they don't want to change,we are all here to learn and if we were to go around changing everyone, what would they learn for themselves? I do agree with your point though, the world would be a better place if everyone thought peace, especially for the children of the future,no-one really stops to think of them and the harm the damage of the world is doing to them.

Retro, In theory it is the ideal way to go. However in practice, you are asking folks to give up their own inherent predjucices and most folks find it simply too hard to do that. For them to do so is to leave themselves vulnerable to other's predjudices and MANY folks are not comfortable enough with themselves and others to be able to become vulnerable to others. Sad but true.
however, Here's a hug for you anyway for at least trying. ((((Retro))))

It's a nice thought. Unfortunately, it also presumes that everyone's idea of love includes unconditional acceptance. I don't have a problem with that, necessarily, but there are plenty of others that do (not pointing fingers or naming names). So, I love people in my way and they... well, I don't know what they do or feel.
Still, here's a hug.

Respectfully disagree.
Getting along in the world - with your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. - is one thing.
But here in virtual reality - with our avatars and anonymity - if we were all loving and kind and patient and polite and respectful of our differences....
Well quite frankly, it would be so BORING most of us would leave!
But I'm gay so I'll give you a hug anyways!!

Variety is the spice of life they say.
I don't think it's necessary to unite everyone. Just respect other opinions and cultures and there will be peace.

Peace does not come simply with uniting everyone.
I personally prefer diversity, even is racism is included.

What do you want to unite them in? If you mean religion i don't believe that will happen, people want to be perceived as right rather then do right. And it seems to me most would rather fight and kill then be peaceful.
