RE:
In Spanish, what exactly does hita mean?
My step dad called me his hita? I thought this meant little one but my sister told me he was calling me his daughter. Is hita a term of endearment or does it literally mean "daughter?"

he called you his hita which in Spanish is written "mi hija" (my daughter)
hijita means little daughter or my daughter.
Its a term of enderament that parents call their children and is used by mainly people from Mexico. Instead of saying "mi hija", they put it together "mija = mi hija"

Hita means landmark. You either mean hija (literally means daughter), mija (a word mainly mexicans use; also means daughter but is not limited to family) or Hijita (literaly means little daughter)
Hija pronounced - (e-ha)
Mija pronounced - (me-ha)
Hijita pronounced - (e-he-ta)
