Ear pain can be a symtom of many ear diseases: osteosclerosis (hardening of ear bone, new bone growth in ear), media ostitis (ear infection)...
To keep ear healthy: avoid loud music, avoid using earphone as much as possible, avoid loud noise (wearing earplug or earphone without music can help), I suggest you seek some medical attention, avoid cleaning ear with cottom swab becaue the secretions produced by ears help trap dirt and will be removed during shower, if cleaning: use wet washcloth and avoid putting the cotton swab too deep into ear.

SOme of these may not be directly about your question, but ear pain is not a normal thing.

if all else fails get ambesol for tooth aches, put it under your arm or something to warm it up and use a dropper to put 2 or 3 drops into the ear. Not only does the warmth start soothing immediately but so does the benzocaine as a numbing agent. Trust me, I had one of the worst ear aches possible, no money and no insurance. I got desperate and was trying anything but nothing worked. My son had a tooth ache and bought some ambesol(liquid not geltube). At this point i felt i had nothing to lose. I tried it and it worked, it will make most of the side of your face numb also so dont freak out.....P.S. this is only a temporary solution.

Oh that dosent sound good at all. I have a 14 month old son and hes had two ear infections, but they have never drained fluid. Try holding a warm, wet cloth to the ear this will improve circulation in the ear, and help remove wax that is creating a blockage. I hope this helps your little guy.

A drop or 2 of room-temperature cooking oil in the ear.
Lay on your side with the ear up so the oil will drop straight down to the ear drum. Then to keep it warm, use a little wad of a cotton ball in the outer ear.
Tylenol may help too.

Go to the nearest drug store and buy sweet oil, warm the whole bottle then put a drop or two in each ear and a cotton ball. My mom used to clear up my earaches like that and it works for my children too.
