There is a good way to test it!

It can be in pristine condition, but if it is older and has micro cracks in the surface, there will be moisture differentials that will lead to more cracking......

As long as it doesn't have any silver, gold, etc. metalwork on it it should be safe. But it's probably a good idea to play it -real- safe and find some tupperware to heat things in and then put it on a nice plate.

China can be put into Microwave ovens as long as it does not have metallic (silver, gold) ornamental paint on it.
