Do you think there will be a rise in the need for ESL (English as Second Language) teachers?

Not interested right now in the politics as to whether or not they should be here. My question is just to see if there will be a rise in this career for those here that need to learn English and American culture.

Yes, it's very likely, but there may also be an emotional backlash against those who appear to be "aiding" illegal immigrants by teaching them English. So it could go both ways.

There is NO need for ESL.
People like yourself that except the idea of English as a Second Language is why we are at this state of affairs.
Is it not a fact that to become a US Citizen the person must be able to speak, read, and talk the English Language. Somewhere it has been excepted for State and Government forms to be printed in different languages, special classes for students to have their own teacher that speaks their languages.

The language in this country is English. We do not need teachers translating the language in any form. We read, write and speak the language of the land, catering to the others are not part of what the tax payers want or are paying to see happen in our school system and we will not build or create an area for others to learn because they refuse to speak the language.

ESL is going to lose the battle with "bilingual" education. I did two semesters on an ESL Masters degree and then my university dropped the program. The wanted me to go bilingual but that is not how we should educate children in this country. ESL=learning to speak read and write English. bilingual=educate them in native language and then hope they will learn English. Political backlash aginst illegals will eventually get both programs totaly deleated from education in USA

With the way things are now there is already an increased need happening for translators and teachers that can help people from the other countries learn english.

No, I think there will be an uproar to stop this bilingual crap in Spanish. English should be the ONLY language in the U.S. If you want to speak Spanish at home, great. Just don't make me accommodate your foreign language. Learn English or go home.

Most towns and cities already offer free English as a second language course. You have to contact your local school or education dept to find out details.

Sadly, yes. There will be an increase in the demand for skill personnel to teach the few aliens who actually want to learn english.

ESL classes do not work. Total immersion works, it takes time but it works better that the ESL classes, I know this for a fact, been there, done that. NO ESL CLASSES.
