Jews or Christians?
Jews believe the Messiah is yet to come. Christians believe Jesus was born from a virgin. Regardless, both religions believe Christ would be born from a vigin.
The only way I can see a virgin birth possible is through InVitro Fertilization. That is the only way a virgin could have a baby, and the technology for Invetro fertilization was not available 2000 years ago, which makes me believe the Jews are the ones who were right. Jews believe Jesus was only a man, a profit, but only a man nonetheless.
What do you think of a Virgin Birth though Invetrofertilization? That IS possible right?

I should have edited the first sentence better, I meant Jews believe the Messiah WILL BE born from a virgin, meaning (not Jesus).

The virgin birth is an article of faith for the Catholic church. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost, was born of the Virgin Mary. The fact is that the Holy Ghost is the third person of the Blessed Trinity ... God can do whatever He wants. If He can create humanity He can (and did) cause Mary to be with child through the Holy Ghost. No IVF was needed.
IVF is possible today and of course a virgin, someone who has never had sexual relations with a man, could donate an egg and receive an embryo, but that egg is fertilised by a man, not by the Holy Ghost, so there's no miracle in IVF.

In looking at some of the responses here it continually astounds me that people seem to feel that if they can't understand something, it just didn't happen.
God is limitless in what he can do, so if He wanted to create a virgin birth, it would not be impossible for Him to do. After all, He created all life on Earth, didn't He?
And it's odd that the Jewish people deny the virgin birth of Jesus, claiming it is impossible for such to happen yet they will fight to the death to defend their belief that God created Adam from the dust of the ground, and gave him life. If He can make a living Man from the dead dust of the Earth, would it be any harder for Him to create a virgin birth?
For those who feel that Mary and Joseph were "fooling around" and wanted to cover their actions, Mary could have very well said that she had been raped by a Roman soldier, which would have been far more plausible than concocting a virgin birth story.
Sin and death were passed from Adam to all of mankind, so that all of Adam's descendants inherit sin and God's curse for sin sin at birth. Basically, every man who has children passes on Adam's curse to his family.
Jesus had a human mother but a non-human Father which put Him outside of the sin cycle, therefore He was born sinless. Thus the virgin birth enabled Jesus to be born a sinless human, God manifested in flesh.

You are thinking in the right direction when you say invitro fertilization was not available 2000 years ago. This scientific fact proves that a non-human scientific mind existed 2000 years ago that knew about this advanced medical procedure in order to make a curtain virgin from a curtain bloodline pregnant with a half human, half non-human baby. That non-human scientific mind belonged to the God that created mankind the Bible calls Yahweh. This makes which religion's belief right?

You are not giving Almighty God [ Jehovah...Exodus 6;3 ] any credit for being able to perform miracles.
The Bible clearly states that God's power, [ the Holy Spirit...not a person or angel] will cause Mary to become pregnant. Both Mary and her 'fiance' Joseph, were of high moral standards. If Mary had relations with any human man, she , under the Jewish l;aw of the time, would have been stoned to death. When joseph found out she was pregnant, he was shocked but an angel told Joseph the situation, so he went ahead and married Mary. the scriptures are very specific on this.
Jesus had a pre-human existence in heaven alongside his Father, Jehovah God.
Proverbs 8; 22-31.
Some religions claim that this refers to the quality of wisdom, but can a quality have feelings for men?...like fondness?

sorry, but u have limited thinking. invitro fertilization is not the ONLY way. also, if it occurs, it needs male gamete which if was taken from a foreigner, then it is also considered as fornication which is not the case.
virgin could have a baby by auto-replication of her chromosomes. haven't u ever heard about the klinefelter syndrome where the 2 X chromosomes don't separate? auto-replication wasn't recorded yet in human being, but it still occurs in plants. (that is why there is no jesus again in modern life).
also his birth itself was a miracle. have u ever heard about a baby talks to ppl while he is younger than 1 week old!!!!!?
have u heard about teratoma which is formed by undifferentiated mesenchymal cells that arrange to form body parts with teeth & hair, ...etc & usually occurs in female genital tract as the ovary. what if it is a bit more well-organised?!!

actually, "virgin births" are natural occurances (if you're a bacteria, insect, whiptail lizard...).
and yes, IVF did not exist back then...but that doesn't mean people in antiquity did not understand that the mechanics behind baby-making. ancient peoples understood practicies for birth control, and to some extent knew medicinal plant properties that could be used as abortives; they knew that women were the ovens and men had the baby batter...and it could be completely plausable that someone could have been artificially inseminated and remain a "virgin"
but i'm banking on that maybe someone was too drunk off of the sacred wine that someone couldn't remember that someone had sex with someone else, hmm?

Cultural beliefs in the time that Jesus was born were that a woman was considered a virgin until she was married. Therefore, if Mary and Jospeph had played around before their wedding, firstly, they would most probably have kept it secret, and secondly, a blind eye would have been turned to it until they were married. The "virgin" birth may also have referred to the fact that Jesus was Mary's first child - she was a "virgin" in the sense of never having had a child before. Remember that the bible was written in times where beliefs and the use of terminology was much different to modern times. It isn't inconceivable that the writings about Jesus' birth have been misinterpreted.

But that wouldn't explain the divinity of the Messiah. The Christian view of Messiah is that he was 100% God and 100% man (please don't get hung up on the math thing I guess it's meant to be metaphorical or something) Invetro just makes him man.
