he seems to be edgy around me,wants a certain girl or girls attention before i get it,will slander me at times and things of that nature.even if i am nice to him...

It sounds to me like he's jealous of you in some way - trainers at gyms are generally popular with the girls and maybe he feels you're a threat to his position in the picking order. Like an alpha male thing. Best just to ignore him and let him deal with his own inadequacies...

Is it really that big a deal? You are there to work out. I mean, if there really is a problem, report him. It is usually not allowed at gym's to have innapropiate language and gestures, etc. of that nature to be going on.
Or you can ask him directly if he has any issues with you.

Why do you let this sort of person bother you at all...he is just a sad creep that needs to be rude to people to make himself feel better...he needs a good SLAP on the a**e ignore the fool.
