First, keep in mind that the video you submit is a reflection of you just as much as a resume is. You wouldn't send in a handwritten resume or one with typos or one with coffee stains on it. Neither should you submit a poor video done on a webcam or shot by someone who doesn't know what they're doing.

Here's my suggestion. Plan out your video and script what you're going to say. Humor is okay, just don't overdo it. Then call around to your local high schools and ask if they have a video production program. Contact the teacher and see if they'd be willing to shoot your piece for a small donation to the program like $25. I teach video in high school, and while $25 isn't much to us, I'd probably help you out if it only took 15 minutes or so of our time.

Another option. If they will accept a DVD video, then you can create a slide show type montage from still photos on your computer. Audio narration is done through the sound card, so you may need a mic to create the sound track.

However they may also be fishing to see if you will be bringing your own video gear to the job. Some employers are cheap.

Get yourself a cheap webcam and some free recording program off the internet(www.download.com is a good place to look). You can probably get one for $15-$20.
