Hi!

I have two female spayed kittens of age 7 and 8 months.

The last thing I want for them is to go overweight.

If I feed them every day a total of a can of Natural Balance (6oz) wet food and 1/2 cup of "premium" dry food, is that alright or too little?

Please advise. Thank you.

I agree with the 1st answer,.... I too, leave a "dry buffet" self-feed 24/7 out for all my rescued kitties. And all indoor fixed cats. They have can food too, although only 3 will eat can.
Your 2 cats are still kittens and need more than that I feel.
I gather the 1/2 cup of dry is between both of them, which is less than what 1 of my adult cats have for sure.
My advice is to allow the kittens to eat dry whenever (self-feed with good quality dry) and 1 can wet split between both is fine daily. They do need their nutrition, protein, energy boosting feed for them to thrive.
BTW, NONE of my cats are overweight (have always had several varieties of quality dry out in "bottomless bowls" for them to eat whenever they desire) and they range in age from 4 - unknown (probably over 10, were rescued) ages.

I guess there many ways of doing this. All my pets, I keep dry food out 24/7 (Except horses) and give canned food as a special. I play with my animals and they also play with each other, so they never overweight as they active. It the same story for people (Another story). It like the dry food is a snack, they just get a few pieces throughout the day and go. I guess when an animal fed only 1-2 times a day, they more prone to gluttony and being overweight. It the same for people (Another story).

TOO LITTLE...dont worry about overweight issues until they are adults...(they become adults at 2yrs old) kittens need all the food, vitamins and nutrients that they can get
