i almost bought a bottle of wine today. it was a sulfite free. fray, red "table wine". 750 ml. when i stopped and thought, holy hell tahts a lot of wine. LOL. now i want to drink wine, but i'm allergic to sulfites. you can get sulfite free wines. but theyre pretty rare. and i'm wondering, sulfites or not, how does a whoel 750 ml bottle get consumed in time?

also, how long can you keep a bottle of wine once its been opened? with sulfites? without sulfites?

thanks

well drinking it by yourself, you shouldnt try it. youd waste a lot or become alcocholic trying. lol. wine is just not for you.

and that idiot who answered above me Yeagher B, is confusing sulfites and sulfates. what an idiot.

First, talk to a good Liquor store to verify what I say.
Wine, once opened begins to turn to vinegar. So, it may taste OK for maybe 1-2 weeks. But, if you have a good taste for wine you will notice a change in about 5 days easy. It not that it become terrible, but, Air starts the process. Most of us never notice this as we kill that sucker in about 2 days, when we going easy. But, Air is the culprit to wine staying good. Now, when my mom and her friends are playing UNO and sometimes my Uncle, 750 ml of wine becomes a joke for one night. I talked to my Liquor dealer about this. I buy this Box Wine, it about 3 or 4 bottles of 750 ml? Just don't call me a lier as it still only last about 2 days with those old farts around. But, what interesting about box wine is it in a plastic bag, inside the box. When you pour the wine, the bag just deflate and air not get in, ah! ha! there that "air" word. Box wine, where I live, is around $14 tops, and this a very good wine. Believe me my dealer sell a lot. He says, why it sell well is, that many not drink a lot and this can last for months after it opened because no air gets in.
Now you should see/understand. Wine not last long (If you have a taste for good wine) when it a bottle and opened, but, when you got your mom, uncle and the other old farts you grew up with, it not matter. But, a box wine last longer.
Well, sulfites, girl, I not know, I never had this problem, my problem is my mom, uncle and all their friends playing UNO. :-p

First off there is no true sulfate FREE wine. When the grapes grow and then are pressed there are some sulfates on the grapes themselves. If the sulfates in wine give you a headache then you need to look for ORGANICALLY grown grape wines. As I said they will still have sulfate however these wines do not ADD extra sulfates to their wines.
As far as "how long once opened" there are far to many factors. Rule of thumb is when it starts to smell or taste slight vinegary its gone bad.

I'd keep it for a week maximum. Keep it corked and chilled, as it deteriorates slowly at lower temperatures. The French often drink a healthy glass a day with their meals and finish a bottle in less than a week.

If you have friends, a bottle can go in an evening.

it takes me two to three days to consume, well within the time frame before it loses its flavor

I've never had a 750 last the night..... Hell, the 1.5's don't really last the night either.
